Injury Rumor

Do you have the Athletic? If so, I can track down a really, really good piece they did comparing Cockeyes's blocking scheme v. Wisconsin. Cockeyes is all zone v. Wisconsin is pretty much all gap.

Im not a fan at all of what Wisconsin runs to be honest.

I sure do. Would love to read it.

Why is that?

I’m a zone guy through and through and I believe it to be a superior scheme. Huge zone read guy as well. Wisconsin just doesn’t move the needle for me and I believe part of the reason why they’ll always be a regional power and not a national one is their reluctance to mix in zone with their gap schemes.

He’s essentially talking about zone blocking vs Gap. The issue really is that Zatechka was either throwing red meat to the boomers, or he didn’t know what the hell he was talking about.

“Back in the day” blocking schemes vs the ones now are basically the exact same. We mix elements of gap and zone in our scheme.

Disappointing to hear from a guy like RZ.
Had to be throwing meat to the boomers. He knows damn good and well how most spread teams use OZ and IZ just like they did. If he wants to talk semantics in how it’s taught. That’s fine. I’ve got an old Tenopir drill tape of them blocking their stretch base block. And it’s pretty much the exact same thing as every zone block I’ve ever seen.

If someone wanted to critique our run game, I’m all ears. We were awful last year outside of the QB run and our best run play was QB power. Shouldn’t be that way ever. Not in year 1,2,3,4,5,6,etc.

What triggers me is someone completely lying about it in order to prop up their point. Scheme had nothing to do with our shit running game last year. But you and I both know that RZ’s listeners were like “Wait a minute… Yeah! This scheme isn’t gonna get it done here!! Meeerrrrrrrrr!”

Part of me wonders if Rob has a little beef with Scott based on how Isaacs recruitment was handled with NU

Anyone who holds grudges over things that happened over 20 years ago when men that are now middle-aged were in college is a complete loser.
No I mean with his nephews recruitment and going to Mizzou instead of NU. Didn’t Sean mention a while ago that John wasn’t thrilled with how it was handled based on not being able to see him much in action?

I misread it. My fault.

Still… if you’re upset that your nephew who’s a D2 player didn’t get a look at Nebraska you’re kind of a knob. Gotta say something when regional FCS schools didn’t offer.
