Health/Wellness life hacks you’ve recently discovered?

My dentist recently mentioned I might have sleep apnea due to the wear pattern on my teeth which led me to digging and I have started taping my mouth shut and using nasal strips to open up breathing through my nose while sleeping and the difference has been tremendous.

Before it was a huge struggle even getting up in the morning and after lunch I really struggled focusing on work after my morning energy burned off, not to mention need an enormous amount of caffeine to get to the gym afterwards. Also would sleep in super late on the weekends which I assume was my body trying to make up for the poor sleep quality during the week even though I would get around 8 hours each night.

Since I implemented the mouth tape and nasal strips I’ve been waking up way more refreshed and have an even amount of energy throughout the day that I didn’t think was possible. Really been life changing. I’m also on the younger side at 29 and not overweight and take my fitness seriously so I didn’t think it would be possible for me to have an issue like this but just goes to show how important it is to stay in tune with your body when stuff starts feeling off.
I would seriously get a sleep study. While what you are doing it isn’t optimal . Reggie white died from sleep apnea supposedly . It is v serious

I have been doing cold plunges. 58 degrees . Up to 30 minutes. I feel great , have less inflammation, am more rested, think more clearly and just feel better emotionally
I asked earlier in the thread on saunas. May as well ask, is there a certain brand of plunge tubs you use?

Bump. Been looking for a good protein powder not any of the shitty kind full of a bunch of filler. What is everyone using or recommending these days?

Also anyone have a creatine brand they recommend?

I originally bought The ice pod brand but it came with 2 different leaks and they wouldn't send me a new one. I didn't even want my money back just a brand new one and they said no because I wouldn't fill the 55 gallons up and take a video of the leaks. Even though they say no hassle returns...

So I just purchased a Nuvio one with a water chiller. Purchased with my HSA.

I’m always hesitant on which protein powder I get. Pretty bad metabolism here so I end up swelling up fat instead of gains. I’m curious as well what’s out there.

I have a heart condition (genetic, not from being a fat shit) and have done tons of research on supplements, etc.

Best ones that are supported by clinical evidence are beetroot powder, coq 10, magnesium, nattokinase, aged garlic extract.

I highly highly recommend everyone take at least beetroot powder and aged garlic extract. Will lower your BP noticeably.

Curious if you've done anything with either capsaicin or aspirin.

I like dymatize iso100 and Ryse. Good flavors and macros

Look at the Jym line of supps. Great products (protein included)

This has been my go to Whey.

My stack of supps include
Multivitamin
Lumberjacked Preworkout
Whey Protein
Ultimate Essential Amino Acids

At some point, I should probably add a little more creatine

For protein I've been using 1st Phorm for years and have always felt good on it. Good flavors too. Creatine I've been using onnit lately and that mixes well. I've used a few others prior but can't remember the brands currently.

Does anyone here take collagen peptides? Been taking low dosage, but seems to help joint pain and reduce inflammation quicker, especially after jogging.

What kind of Collagen Peptides are you referring to? I took BPC-157 for a couple of months as I was healing from a partially torn Distal Bicep Tendon. It definitely helped speed up the process compared to when I wasn't taking it.

I am taking Vital Proteins and it has types 1 and 3 peptides in it. It made my hair soft which would make Tim Miles barber blush.

Haven’t really looked into either, what are they supposed to do? I’m not high risk for heart attack, my biggest thing to monitor is BP to keep the stress off my ventricles and aorta (which are both dilated). I have no symptoms and get different advice from different cardiologists, nobody seems to agree on anything.

I use MyProtein unflavored whey isolate and put peanut butter or maple syrup in it. Tests really clean, single ingredient, and usually great bang for your buck. I got 11# for $70 last time I bought and they're running a sale now

Capsaicin potentially reduces inflammation & helps artery health.

Aspirin's main benefit is supposed to be making blood less prone to clotting, but also associated with other health benefits, depending on who you ask.

I'm not an expert on either one, but have been intrigued the more I look into them.

I use this one from Costco every day... As a bald, I can't say that it's done anything for my hair... 🙂
