Health/Wellness life hacks you’ve recently discovered?

Been taking Lion's Mane and Active B Vitamins. My energy levels in the gym have seen a major boost.

Turns out my body has a hard time methylating B vitamins which is why the active form is necessary. I suggest everybody get blood work done and figure out where your body is inefficient.

Also, found I have an issue with gluten, causes me a lot of inflammation. Sucks because I love bread but I've felt great since cutting it out of my diet.

Been wondering for a few months if I have a gluten issue after going crazy on a dirty bulk for some years in my 20s. Keep things really clean during the week, I use lots of veggies as carbs. Call it a carb reload on the weekends and let loose to an extent, and my stomach does like a 180 almost immediately.

hehe ohhh Alky, I think most men over 70 have trouble methylating anything that doesn’t come out of their butt crack

In your case do you need to not ever have gluten to maintain your health goals, or do you severely limit it and call that good? I guess I'm wondering if just limiting but not eliminating gluten does any good for a person sensitive to it, or if you need to teetotal to gain benefits. I don't want to give up ALL gluten for ever lol.

I would say I’m the same way honestly. My brother completely cut beer out, switched to seltzers/liquor and watched on gluten and lost lots of weight without working out. I can instantly tell weight gain, bloating, and stomach issues with gluten

Go get tested for allergies/sensitivities. My dad was having a bunch of stomach issues and turns out he has reactions to gluten, fructose, dairy, and something else. He feels a lot better now. He can still have any of these things he just knows that he needs to really limit them otherwise he'll feel like crap.

I’m sure limiting it would be beneficial if you have a sensitivity but in my case I don’t eat much gluten in general so I’m just cutting it completely.

I won’t lie, I’m still eating cake on my birthday and stuffing on Thanksgiving so I’m not going to be religious about it. I do notice a big difference though.

I'm assuming that you're probably eating pre-made foods that contain gluten, but if not, consider getting your flour from Italy. I have a friend that had the worst gluten sensitivity and he did a lot of research on it. He's convinced that it has to do with the chemicals that we use on our wheat here. He started purchasing his flour from Italy and making his own breads, pasta, etc... Not an issue since he started doing that.

Did you have your PCM order the bloodwork? Just curious because I see all of those swab methylation test kits on Instagram and not sure if they are a scam or legit. I figure that most things on Instagram is a scam and part of a get rich quick scheme.

Started eating a high protein diet about a month ago. Lots of meat, cottage cheese, eggs etc. while avoiding breads, pastas and other high carb foods. Also started adding a mushroom complex to my coffee in the morning and using the sauna a few evenings a week after my workouts. My energy levels are great and I just feel so much better. I’ve always been a terrible sleeper and have never slept better in my life.

I get my dessert/sweets fix by mixing Greek yogurt with a scoop of blueberry protein powder and one egg. Microwave it for a minute and half to 2 minutes and add some blueberries and Cool Whip.

Yeeeaaaahhhhh I'd agree to that. My veggies are the giant frozen mixed veggie bags. I eat quite a bit of fish anymore, and that's the high quality clean filets from Sam's Club. I would say a good portion of the carbs i get on the weekends is boxed white rice from Aldi. It's enrich, it tastes great. That would explain that. My meats are fresh. I have have seen some things on the U.S. additives in food compared to places like Italy. I'm fascinated by it. It also blows at the same time.

Yes, I did as full of a blood test as possible. Pretty much all biomarkers were checked. Liver function, genetics, allergy, lipid panel, glucose, enzymes to name a few.

Greek yogurt is the greatest protein hack on the planet. I would die if I was lactose intolerant.

Wish I would have thought about that during my last physical in May. Going to be changing doctors though in the near future so I'm going to bring it up. The doc that I've been going to for years, I brought it up to him, he just said IBS and take a gas pill for farting. The increased fiber and added greek yogurt did wonders for my IBS in the last year and a half, but the farting is still rough and I haven't 100% solved the IBS thing, although it's significantly better. I am going to bring it up those possibilities whenever I do go back. There are random days where I do get ridiculous diarrhea for no reason at all. It's almost always on the weekends once I change my carb sources.

Beer doesn't do it to me weirdly enough. Although my tolerance has almost been cut in half over the last decade. I will say that my body just operates a lot better without all of the legitimate carbs, which sucks cause I can definitely still eat like I'm 250 lol. I've dropped about 50 lbs in the last year and a half, and really am just trying to figure out a good balance so I can prevent my stomach from doing flips if I'm trying to let loose. But, also may be my own doing after eating crazy for half a decade.

Drinking water. It's not really a hack but I got into it more when I started lifting heavier and it makes such a big difference in the gym and just daily energy
I used to struggle with my water intake outside of workouts because I end up having to piss all the time and generally felt uncomfortable.

I switched to drinking warm water and found my body absorbs it better, less bathroom visits.
