Health/Wellness life hacks you’ve recently discovered?

I focus really hard on my food in general at this point in my life, less on supplements. Sleep and hydration too.
been starting too the last year. Mentally and mobility I feel better. I have lost strength but also not pounding the weights like I was. I was following a power building plan. Increased my size and strength as well as major muscle definition. But was slamming sups and eating damn near 300g of protein a day. I was stiff as a board all the time but increased my bench and squat over 150 pounds in a year.
Then may hit, mental health issues arose. going to the gym seemed like a chore. my eating went to shit drank more and sat on my ass. Got some mental health help saw a nutritionist. Now down 30 pounds since September while also working out less. All because of my more intuitive eating happens. Trained and ran a 5k in November. Started back with the weight but focus just more on maintain health.

Kudos to you, we're all battling something. Purposely, I blew up to 257 lbs to be best natural Powerlifter I could in my 20s. Absolutely zero filter on food, definite caffeine abuse, minimal cardio, leftover life anger from a bad breakup and not making it high enough in baseball just fueled some awesome lifting for about 5 years. Had some ED issues, daughter was born, I couldn't just sit with her on the floor without my belly being in the way, always had to sit a certain way to make it work, bad physical, had to make changes. Went about a year and a half with morning coffee as my caffeine, very clean diet anymore except on the weekends, lots of cardio, still do Powerlifting but I care a lot more about looking good naked for my wife than I used to, and at this point I just physically and mentally want to be able to do whatever life throws at me for my wife and daughter. And quite simply, the anger of my 20s ran out lol but the gym will forever be my therapy.

I take a supplement called Protandim. It is supposed to fight oxidative stress and inflammation. When I do forget to take it for a couple of days I really notice a difference in the ache level of the body, but otherwise just kind of a ho hum vitamin type supplement that hopefully is doing something in the background.

I’ve been trying various new vitamins and started taking methylated or fermented vitamins to see if they make a difference.

One thing that I used to take was ashwaganda before bed. It helped reduced cortisol in the body and made a difference for me. I quit taking it due to going into sudden cardiac arrest due to an electrolyte deficiency and getting bad PVCs that caused my heart to go into Vfibb.

Fuck are you the same person? Minus the daughter and you actually knowing your stuff lol.

Almost identical story, issues caffeine addiction and all. Got up to 260 dirty bulk and all. Now 230.

I’m just a dog dad rn, but even that has opened my eyes to how out shape I am.

Started seeing a therapist as well as psychiatrist. Already knew I had anxiety/depression but not treated it properly until August. Also come to find out that I have serious adhd as well.

Still struggle with cardio and enjoying it. But mainly cause I get bored and lose focus easily.
May come to you for advice and inspiration 🤣 my buddy that work with gibs gets annoyed sometimes 🤣
But agree we all struggle with shit! Keep going man!
Alright therapy session over

Just checked it out. Reviews on Reddit people seem to like it and say they work.

I may try out the dumbbell one since that's all I have in my home gym.
My and a buddy have each bought a couple of them. I’ve liked the variety of full body workouts they give. Just was looking for others opinions as well. You’ll have to let me know how it goes. I probably need to take some time away for power lifts and focus on dumbbells here soon

Reverse Barbell Lunge. Sucks. But so much bang for your buck.
Had to do these in college and they absolutely destroyed my knees. We were having to put 3 plates on each side minimum so that probably didn’t help.
Last time I did these something “popped” in my thigh - I don’t know how else to describe it - and I immediately was in pain and became extremely dizzy. Went and walked around the gym track and I was walking by the ellipticals (they face the track) and I damn near passed out and face planted into a treadmill.

If anyone saw me they probably thought I was drunk or something.

lol man I'm just a giant believer in just getting it done and making shit happen. It's gonna suck, no doubt. But the rewards down the road make it worth it, and the rewards are so satisfying, atleast to me.

Cardio though, I don't know if you know who Cory Gregory is, but I follow his lunging program for my cardio. I have a Powerlifting gym in my garage that I built over a few years time, so it's basically just reverse lunging in place, but I do that for 15 minutes probably 4 times a week right now. There's some science to it, but ultimately it's supposed to make you sweat like crazy, increase metabolism, get you in shape, and built all sorts of fine muscle, tendon, ligament strength. Idk about all that lol but I certainly feel light years better at 200 than I did at 260.

I can't remember who said it on a video, but I remember the phrase was "just lose yourself in the cardio" and I try to do that. I've been watching a lot of 15-18 minute David Goggins videos lately. And I always keep in mind that if I want my dick to work consistently, then I better just suck it up and get it done, cause even though I'm not 260 anymore, I sure can still eat like it lol

I lift each morning at about 4 AM. Weekends vary. Still powerlifting, with some bodybuilding mixed in. The thought is simply if you start your morning as difficult as possible, the rest of your day isn't nearly as difficult. Pulled 555 off of 4 rubber mats yesterday, as part of the Conjugate System. The rest of the day was not nearly as difficult lol

I do "Anabolic Fasting" which has become just Intermittent Fasting for Powerlifting. Took about two-ish years now for my body to adapt to the weight loss and essentially rebuild over the last few months.

Mentally, it's been a challenge going from the biggest dude in most rooms, to just another dude who looks like he enjoys being in the gym.

I bought a full body red light panel. It helps with inflammation.
I've got one of the large "belts" that I use daily, but have always had it wrapped around the belly and the sides. I was recently diagnosed with arthritis up and down my spine, so I may have to flip it around and use it that way. Apparently the only thing I can do for arthritis is lower inflammation (specifically diet, but I was already eating modified KETO, taking Turmeric daily, so ... 🤷‍♂️). FML.
