I think Slovis was the best QB in the portal we had a shot at and that includes Brennan.

I don’t think Brennan was bad, but with our line i would have been worried.

Even if we say in 22 our OL was good I still think Slovis was better. He started way more games than Brennan did. Brennan has been living on “potential” for quite some time.

Slovis or Grayson McCall would have been my first choice, Then the Ward kid from FCS. With the first two off the table and the Ward kid not likely an option Thompson seems the best option out there.

I never saw why we had interest in Brennan but honestly I’m still intrigued by the Akron kid

I’m with you. I wanted Slovis over anyone else especially for what Whipple wants to do. Slovis is a player.

Yes, his Dad was on the cover of SI in 1989. Was the beginning of Switzer's downfall and Charles went to jail.

Charles turned his life around. He was an awesome wishbone QB and replaced Jamelle Holieway when Holieway blew out his knee one week before the OU/NU 1 vs 2 game in 1987. We thought we'd get the advantage of facing the backup QB but Thompson was as good as Holieway.

Lots of guys will hit the portal after the spring. It'd be nice to lock someone up now, but you don't want to slide too far down the list in the event they'd scare off a better player later
