Casey Thompson In Portal

Lol.

I am an addict. I was keeping memberships at IN, HOL and 24/7. I have a work from home job so I have lots of dead time lol.

But 4 sites is too many to track. I canceled the 24/7 and I probably should cancel the HOL next, but they are good with NU hoops and I'm a Nebrasketball guy.
I'm in pretty much the same place. It's hard to cancel, though, because each brings something unique. Rivals has the best local content, but their national network is crumbling and the information there is becoming increasing spotty, plus the message board is lightly trafficked. On3 has a very good national network which is getting better by the week as they steal staff and fansites from Rivals and 247, plus you can read and search all their message boards across sites. The local message board has tons of traffic but it is low quality traffic. 247 has some good national people and data, especially historical data, and you can read (but not search) all the fansites. The local content is mediocre and the board isn't very good. The local site does do seem to get good info from time to time from others sites in the network.

This site is unique - the beat message boards and insider info.

If they were such great friends why did Casey leave?
I am not sure they are great friends, but I certainly have never chosen a place of employment based on my friends working there. It's not really a relevant consideration in a personal decision of that magnitude.

IIRC @ShortSideOption called it on Monday (and FULL credit to him - he was dead right).

Then on late Tuesday Casey posted throwing videos to his IG. So at that point 95% of Husker Nation knew that Thompson was gone. Also on Tuesday McKewon said that he expects NU's QBs to go from 6 to 3 very shortly (meaning CT is next to go).
When that video was posted and I took a look at it, it was obvious that CT was putting the fact that he wanted to transfer into the public domain with a video dump. Yesterday, someone tried to give me "credit" for saying exactly that in the thread. You'd have to be an idiot not to know what that was. I think some people get so caught up in certain players that they almost refuse to believe the obvious.

I agree. Guess that is why I find a question about Washington leaving odd? Peer recruiting is way overrated.

Sims clone. A 6'5" runner and passer, and Alabama, Auburn and Cincinnati offered out of high school, so he's got 4 years.

South Carolina quarterback enters transfer portal

South Carolina quarterback Braden Davis pregame
Braden Davis (C.J. Driggers/Gamecock Central)

South Carolina quarterback Braden Davis announced Wednesday he will enter the NCAA transfer portal, the second Gamecocks player that day to make such an announcement.

The redshirt freshman did not see any game action in his first season with the Gamecocks, taking a redshirt last season.

Davis is the third South Carolina player to enter the portal during the spring transfer window after suspended redshirt freshman defensive back Anthony Rose announced a couple of weeks ago that he would enter the portal and redshirt freshman defensive tackle Demetrius Watson announced the same on Wednesday.

Davis arrived at South Carolina in January of 2022, after graduating from Middletown High School in Delaware. He was highly touted as the Gatorade Delaware Football Player of the Year, and led the Cavaliers to an 11-1 record and the state championship as a senior.

Davis was also selected for the Under Armour All-America game and ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Delaware, the 32nd-best quarterback prospect in the country, and No. 570 overall prospect in the 2022 class in the On3 Industry Ranking, an average of all four major recruiting media services.

In a press conference at the end of the spring, Davis said that he’s been focusing on improving his accuracy while getting bigger and stronger in the last year.

“I hit 22.5 (mph) I believe in the offseason”, Davis said. “Squat went up like 100 pounds. Bench went up 80 or so.”

Zero surprise… as I said Rhule had the comvo that Sims was our #1 in summer and heading to fall camp. He will have every chance to unseat him but Sims showed what they wanted this spring. Thompson is wanting to go where he’s guaranteed a starting spot, just like he did last year when he came here. I don’t have a problem with that.

Love Rhule going all in with what he believes and not sugar coating anything.
FWIW @ShortSideOption was saying he was likely to transfer

Meanwhile Sipple and his genius, was on the radio a couple days ago saying "I think he is staying" "my sources are telling me he is staying." Fucking if Busch wasn't on the radio with him I would never listen to the guy who choses bone in wings because he can "chew on the bone" with the extra ranch he ordered.
Sipple has been on some weird crusade defending guys from previous regime like when he refused to call it a rebuild “because Thompson, Farmer, Reiner and guys like that are really good and don’t deserve that” (his words not immune). Yet in 2018 he called Frosts job a rebuild and did that to guys like Foster, Farmer, and the Davis twins.

I’ve started to learn some Husker fans and media talk and think with their hearts sometimes and don’t use logic.

College Football Daily had a great interview with Rhule in a podcast yesterday - someone posted a link to the podcast on the board and I recommend it.

In there he was asked about whether he was trading barbs with Deion with his public comments. I'll paraphrase his response (so if it is not exact forgive me)

He said

- he has great respect for Coach Prime - Prime has been successful at everything he has done in life
- he said he was in no position to discuss the portal anyway because he probably has less than 5 scholarships available
- he said when he says stuff to the media or in interviews, his is either speaking to his players or to the Nebraska fans, not anyone else

I find the candor about the audience refreshing

BTW Other good things in that interview, especially about the offense. He said wherever he goes, he studies the history about what has worked there - power worked with weather at Temple, he had to contend with heat in Texas, he has the wind to deal with at Nebraska. He said that doesn't mean he uses the same plays as his predecessors did (many of which would not even be legal today with changes in blocking rules, etc), but rather that he uses things in the toolkit provided by their offensive scheme to the same effect. Said his Nebraska offense will look more like Temple than Baylor. Noted that if you look at old film that it turns out Osborne pioneered at lot of modern day RPO in the 1980's.

Also said that if he didn't believe Nebraska could be a CFP contender in 5 years he wouldn't have taken the job. Said the school has everything it needs, and being in the center of the country will turn out to be a significant advantage down the road with cross-continental conferences. Said we had already improved connections for recruiting with the new flights from Texas to Lincoln. The guy is turning out to a possible visionary.

I tend to think Rhule knew this was probably going to happen well in advance. If Thompson had put his name in earlier he would not have had a training staff to work with for rehab. I think there was probably a wink and a nod understanding.

Nobody would take him until his shoulder could be shown to be sound. He couldn’t leave in the winter portal. It didn’t require Rhule's wink or nod. CT deserved the medical care - he got injured playing for us.

Agreed. Just saying that I think Rhule and Thompson had had conversations well before this week that this was a good possibility.

How did we end up with this guy

He is elite

I figure why pay for the other boards when you get better info here. It also helps that don’t follow recruiting as much anymore due to the hype.

I spend less and less time on insider. I'll probably spend more time over there starting with fall camp again though for the articles. They're the best writers.
