Auto (lemon) purchase advice

I'm not a mechanic or assassin just grew up without a lot of money and had figure things out on my own or with the help of my grandpa or my great uncle. I've been around cars my whole life and watch a lot of shows about cars too so I've picked up a thing or two along the way. 🤣

My buddy in grad school would do his own brakes and that is a level of self confidence that I'm ok never attaining

I typically do everything outside of engine work, brakes, oil, etc all done at home

I can do that level of stuff if I had to but only on my own car. I've never really liked working on other people's cars if I could help it.
