Auto (lemon) purchase advice

Sounded like the insurance fraud was only discussed in a phone call to the European auto mechanic?
If Harvey and Mike from "Suits" have taught me anything, you need to act/bluff like you want to take him up on this deal, get it in writing, then use it to blackmail/extort him with it.
Yes, it was only talked about with Euro Auto. I have an extra cell phone I plan on recording any convo that happens.

If you have an iPhone with the latest iOS there is a built in call record feature in the top left.

It does have a "this call is being recorded" message that plays but you can probably enable the function while you're on hold.

Did you (whoever signed the paperwork) know it was a prior salvage title and was it disclosed?
This is extremely important. It's a felony in Nebraska not to disclose this.

Did you (whoever signed the paperwork) receive a Buyers Guide form similar to the link below with "As-Is" checked? Were there any additional forms for as-is disclaimers?

1. Yes, they disclosed that to my wife

2. I believe so but will have look again at the paperwork

I hate to say it but it looks like you are at the mercy of whatever the dealer is willing to do. I don't know how long it was ran without the belt but that's not going to help with your overheating case.
I find it precarious that his mechanic didn’t notice the water pump didn’t have a belt on it the two times he looked at it right after purchase

I went back and read your op and you said the dealers mechanic replaced the serpentine belt so that could help your case. It could have been the wrong size or put on incorrectly or something doesn't line up right on the engine but it shouldn't have failed that quickly.

Most modern cars have one serpentine belt that runs everything water pump, alternator, power steering, AC, etc... So if the dealers mechanic installed the belt improperly and it broke or came off for whatever reason that could cause the car to overheat. The second mechanic also mentioned in his report that the fans were not operating correctly. If the fans are not wired correctly this could also cause the car to overheat.

When you said the car stopped and it was hemorrhaging fluids is probably when the belt broke and the car overheated and the fluid was coolant coming out due to being overheated.

Who died and made you Jason Statham who I believed started in a movie called The Mechanic that must have been about a mechanic?

I'm not a mechanic or assassin just grew up without a lot of money and had figure things out on my own or with the help of my grandpa or my great uncle. I've been around cars my whole life and watch a lot of shows about cars too so I've picked up a thing or two along the way. 🤣

Camp out front with a huge ass sign that says “These guys hate puppies, and are fucking liars! Honk if you love puppies” Sympathetic yet hard-hitting! Stand on the public sidewalk, and film it all from many angles. When the cops show up, and hopefully the news crew, and hopefully the owner will send a mechanic out to rough you up! Hopefully he does! Your lawsuit will easily cover the money you spent. You might end up owning the dealership yourself and rename it The Platinum Motors! Mostly joking, but encouraging you to fight on bro!
