And so it begins...(tracking Coach Prime decommits/transfers)

We said the same thing last year and then got boat raced, so…
Really tired of these shit posts. If you can't see the improvements that Rhule has made over the last 8 months then you are blind. Nebraska has improved as a football team, not sure you can say the same for Colorado. We all know what happened last year and Rhule took appropriate actions to improve the team. We don't need to relive that game all the time, we all saw it. If you've got something to add then do it.

"Boat raced" is an interesting recollection. It was 13-7 halfway through the third quarter. That game was a lot closer than the final score. Flip the QBs and we would have won easily - that's not hard to see.
I think it's good that CU thinks it beat NU via a "heroic defensive effort", according to their own local reporters. Unfortunately I think it's mostly their fans who are delusional.

I think Shedildo remembers Tony White. The fact that he referenced the Nebraska defense in an April press availability shows you that Shedildo remembers pretty well. So, sadly I think the CU players will be a little more mentally prepared than their fans.

This makes me wonder how many of Colorado's transfer commits are still poachable. Is it possible Dayan Hayes could still get plucked by another team? Could Dallan Hayden still change his mind and leave CU with an even bigger hole at running back?

My comment was directed towards CU more than it was toward the state of Nebraska’s program FWIW.

Assume they all could until they start classes. Don't see Hayden doing that. He's pretty much the starter by default. All Colorado has besides him is a 3 star FR and a couple of walkons.

Agreed with this. I'm done with all Curse and Simulation talks. Going back to Solich honestly, you can track the ways the program has continued to shoot itself in the foot. Whether it's athletic director micromanagement, poor staff / roster management, lack of efforts in recruiting, inability to build a strong culture, inability to adapt scheme, we've seen it all. And it all boils down to a program unable to get out of its own way or learn from its mistakes. There have been some act of God elements like us getting screwed on scheduling, bad calls, or player injuries, but I still see the overall reflection being on a program that has been overseen by subpar management up until this point. And in Frost's instance, it was criminally neglegent management. It's baffling. I've lost track of the number of times after a season was done that we would hope a coordinator or assistant moves on or we would try and recruit more depth at a position, only for those thoughts to be ignored. Then it's finally acted on more as an act of desperation instead of aggressively proactive self reflection. We finally saw that happen in full this off season. And we may not be perfect. Maybe Satterfield proves to not have it for being a qualified P4 coordinator like some have said, but getting Glenn Thomas on board and overhauling the QB room at least showed effort in fixing things after just one year.

I'm also done with the notion that "Colorado has beaten us the last three times, so really we have no room to talk or should just expect more of the same". Colorado 2018 and 2019 were under Frost's watch. Historically speaking, the only similarity those teams have with this one is that they both wore the N on their helmet (maybe some starters this year were freshman on the roster then, but meh). Sure, the record books show three straight losses, but the variables those teams all operated under are all different. And the variables from last year to now are also vastly different in a lot of ways as well. If we throw out 2018 and 2019 and just look at what happened last year and what both programs have done since then, I'm really excited to see that game play out versus dreading more of the same.

I don’t think they’re really shit posts. For years we’ve had this expectation that just because we have the N on our helmet we are naturally better than teams when that hasn’t been the case for a long time. I think many of us would agree that we seem to have gotten better throughout the year under Rhule and are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and not fault him for the short comings of his predecessors. However, a lot of us want to see the improvements in the Win column first before we circle ANY game as an easy win on our schedule which is an extremely reasonable mindset. There were many things last year that weren’t great that right now are still major question marks - the RBs and special teams play off the top of my head. Just because some of us think this game isn’t a lay-up doesn’t mean that CU is a Playoff contender. It just means we’ve sucked ass for a long time.

I don't expect to beat Colorado because of the logo on the helmet. But after following both teams all last season and seeing how they played towards the end of the year, what changes were made to the staffs and rosters, the game being in Lincoln at night, I think we will be a 7+ point favorite. I don't think Colorado has gotten any better. some better talent on the OL, but still thrown together under a 1st year assistant, better on the edge for pass rush, but worse at RB and TE and no better at DT or LB, a much worse OC and a 1st year DC that comes from the secondary. They won't be able to stop the run or run the ball, and Lewis was the brains on their quick pass offense that was able to score points with no running game and a poor OL, the play calling after Lewis was gone just didn't work. Meanwhile Nebraska has improved in about every area, most importantly at QB and QB coach. We might be a bit worse at CB, but I trust White and Cooper to develop the players there and come up with a game plan that will work.

TBF though....most of Nebraska's games vs B1G West teams, we've had the better players. If you go by recruiting rankings. Just looking at the Frost era alone.

It's OK to expect more from your team that spends more money on recruiting, coaching staffs, player amenities, facilities, etc....and then Rivals says your team had 20-30th best recruiting classes and you're playing a team that had 60-70th ranked recruiting classes.

It's OK for the fans of the team that spends more money and gets the 20-30th ranked recruits to EXPECT beat the team that doesn't have that.

You have to hold the people in charge (Frost) to that expectation....if you don't, then you're just cool with him wasting all your money and resources. No one expects Nebraska to go 13-0 just bc we have an "N" on our helmet. But we expect the HC to put a team out there that can consistently win vs teams w less $$$ and worse recruits. If you don't have that expectation then you're an idiot, frankly.

While I agree with you 90% the one factor that also needs to be examined is did we REALLY out recruit our B!G West foes? Way too much credit is given those end of year team recruiting rankings. So many of our top 20 classes were smoke and mirrors. The final rankings of our classes so often were propped up by four stars that were either personality risks or over rated by the services. We all joke about the curse of the four star but it wasn't a curse it was bad recruiting. Our coaches for many years were taking a lot of "four star" guys in desperation and hoping that these players that were given a hard pass by other major schools would become stars for us. The list of dudes that fit this narrative is far too long and exhaustive to even attempt. Of the long list of failures by all of our coaches since Osborne not named Callahan recruiting is pretty high on my list of why we've struggled and slipped way below mediocrity.
