The amazing thing to me is the fact that over 60% of the transfers in last season have already left. These were the Dawgs, the Louis that Sanders supposedly brought in, now as they leave they aren't good enough, they are afraid of competition. Now I expect such hypocrisy from a fan base, but from coaches and players that's another level.

Why do people think the current crop of transfers is any better than the last crop? Still just a bunch of rented players, but the quality of the coaching staff got worse. I'm very interested to see what their roster looks like at the end of the year after Sanders quits.

My mind is still trying to catch up to the current times where out of 130 (or whatever the exact number is) teams across the country, all but 9 of them had 15 or more players leave. And everybody but us had double-digit departures.

Because Prime fans are colorblind to the rose-colored delusion that Deion gives out every day.

If/when that happens they will likely have the worst roster in CFB unless they get a legit coach to replace him.

That transition will not be smooth.

Deion got brought in for brand purposes and to energize what was essentially a zombie program. They are sacrificing what is ostensibly the rest of their brand value by loading it on a ship that will eventually capsize. They couldn't raise anything real in NIL without him and he's probably spending out of his own pocket via endorsement deals to fill out the roster. Charlotte is doing this model and it's less uncommon in hoops. Keep in mind Deion gunned hard for the TCU job and interviewed when they hired Dykes. The reason they didn't hire him was probably out of lack of desperation.

That aside, Deion leaving will leave a brand vacuum that will be almost impossible to fill. Who do you hire to avoid complete shock to the media property? Shannon Sharpe?? There's not a single coach that's even half as media-present so you're either hiring from within and having someone play the role (Warren Sapp) or completely changing course and losing almost all the buy-in on the roster.

Fan, rival, or otherwise it will be about as fascinating a coaching transition as has ever taken place. I don't think they have the money or brain trust to pull it off which only adds to the intrigue. Colorado hiring Deion is like some D list celebrity starting an onlyfans at 50 years old.

Agree with your whole post, but yeah there is no way any of those Deion/media circus affiliated guys will ever be seen in Boulder again after he leaves. It's going to be a ghost town and they'll probably have to hire someone from the lower ranks and retool their entire phony image.

Bienemy? I honestly have no idea. Any alumni out there?

Their best move is to find an up and coming MAC coach (like PJ Fleck in 2016). But I don't think that candidate will want to deal w the 100% roster attrition they're gonna have. The 2016 Fleck has way better options than Colorado in JAN 2025. Hottest MAC coaches will want B1G or SEC. Maybe you get a 2nd tier guy from the MAC or MWC.

They almost have to go the DeShaun Foster route that UCLA did (well-known former player w no HC experience). With no NIL, you almost need a recognizable name to provide the sizzle to recruits.

And they won't get a top coordinator like Tony White bc he knows he can do better (Rhule is telling him to avoid programs like CU). Their best bet might be to try to get Ryan Walters if he pulls another 4-8 at Purdue.

Won’t be Bienemy. Some bad shit went down when he was an assistant at CU

Pathetic. Our guys are such bums other programs don't even want them. Colorado's roster is literally overflowing with talent. Dieon wins again.

This tweet is from a Maryland guy and it's supposed to "tout" Maryland. But it glosses over the fact that Maryland lost 5 probable starters to the portal. All 5 transferred to Power 5 programs due to NIL paydays. They even lost 3 starting DBs.

I mention it because the vast majority of NIL transfers "out' of Power 5 programs are dudes buried on a depth chart.

The Terps have lost 19 players from last season's 2-Deep. They might be a team to bet an when considering the Under number.
