Colorado has landed yet another commitment, this time securing Chidozie Nwankwo the former University of Houston nose tackle. Nwankwo the
5’11 295 lb defensive lineman was with the Houston Cougars for four years and was a key competent to their run defense. Last season, Nwankwo registered 25 tackles and 1 sack and will provide immediate help to Colorado’s defensive line.
Chidozie Nwankwo was a 3-Star recruit coming out of high school, ranked as the No. 80 Defensive Tackle in the nation. Nwankwo had 19 offers from schools nationwide but decided on Houston as he is originally from Richmond, Texas.
Last season, the Buffaloes struggled immensely defending the run game from opposing teams, as teams averaged 176.4 yards per game on the ground. Colorado hopes this will improve next season with Nwankwo as the nose tackle, being at the forefront of stopping the run.
Nwankwo now becomes the 15th player to commit to Deion Sanders and Colorado since the portal opened a short time ago. According to 247 Sports, the Buffaloes now have the No. 2 ranked transfer class in the country so far, trailing only Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss who hold the number one spot.
Colorado will continue to hammer the portal, looking to add more linebackers and defensive linemen in hopes of dominating the Big-12 Conference in 2024 and beyond.
