if you are going to invest anywhere on defense it was Chris Jones. He is the guy who makes everybody else around him better on that side of the ball..

Odds of pulling another Tyreek Hill fleece was slim.

Couldn’t let a HOF player walk for nothing..

Salary cap increased 30m. Chris Jones’s new contract increase makes up about 10m of that.

But also, as an independent observer who hates obnoxious chiefs fans, it's not unreasonable for a defensive tackle to play at a high level until 32 when the Chiefs most likely have an out in the contract and also Jones is still an elite DT so to the degree that it's a gamble it's an extremely reasonable one

Based on my understanding….

First 3 years are 100% guaranteed. After that they could cut and walk, but doubt they do that..



I mean look at the contract that Dak signed for 40m a year in 2020. He is likely due for about a 50% increase on his next extension.
