Walked out and quit my job today

index.php

I still need more of the blonde....please sir.

I'd like to hear more on this. That's walking out on a CAREER after 28 years.

FWIW, I retired at 54 with a somewhat similar "I'm outta here" moment. It was in yet another "pipeline review" meeting with the idjut masquerading as a new, new leader when I had the epiphany. I looked at him and said, "I've just arrived at the intersection of two lines: The first line is the "I've had enough" line, and the second line is looking at my portfolio and it's the "I have enough" line. How would you like this to end - with a ramp down period for deals I have in play and appropriate messaging to my long-time clients, or with me simply walking out the door?" Faggit took the ramp down period. Zero regrets about doing this 8 years later.
It was kind of the old story. Big corporation wants to down size its management team, less managers more work. There was a promotion and a raise with the new position which was good. The position I was the most qualified for was taking the place of three of the original managers. There were other positions that were getting the same promotion and the raise but were basically doing the job of one of the original managers. So I tried to get some clarity about the differences in the positions thinking I may have missed something when they where explained. Unfortunately my manager didn't really have any new information about any of the new positions other than the cooperate talking points. So I was like ok and went about my business. I was pretty confident that I was going to get the new position, I was running the largest, most profitable area of the original areas for the last seven years. I had built a great team of employees over the years. I had above standard reviews. I worked extra hours coming in early, staying late. I was helping the other managers with their areas. I have worked in this area for years and had a connection to the community etc.

Our manager went to a meeting with our district manager (who I had a very good relationship with for years) the district HR and the other managers from the other locations in the district to decide where they were going to place everyone in the different locations. A few days later our manager started setting down with us individually and letting us know which of the new positions we would have I was one of the last so I knew that wasn't a good thing. So we finally sit down and she can't get out what she was trying to say, but finally gets it out that I had been very negative about the new positions, (which I had not just asked some questions about the differences between the positions) and that they didn't have a position for me at this location but they offered me a lower position at a different location that they thought would be a less stressful for me (I wasn't stress out and was handling my workload just fine). So I basically let her know about what I thought about that and put my resignation immediately and left.

Come to find out they gave the position to one of the younger managers (that I hired and trained of coarse) that hadn't been a manager for more than year with no experience in that area that really doesn't know what he is getting himself into but was more "positive" about the new positions.

Sorry nothing too exciting and too long, but the kind of things that you have to watch out for working in the corporate world.

No but congrats on the unemployment. I unfortunately need to work a few more years
Dude you been retired since 1997, you botched your attempt at being an AD, did Nancy take yo retirement?

I’ve never been so fed up that I just quit a job on the spot but I did that today. Pretty crazy stuff. My coworkers were such fuck wads that I couldn’t take another minute, and I’m a pretty easy going person.
Has anyone done this and feels my pain?

I had a dumb job after college and the 3rd Husker tailgating day in a row I had to miss was the last straw

&
neither has @LoudHogRider 😢😢😢😢
It's not for lack of looking. I just can't get Mrs. LHR to "say yes to the dress" yet.

Me: "I've picked out three houses for you to look at tonight"
<view homes together on the home theater screen>
Me: "What did you think? Did any of look like your next home?"
Her: "The one had some nice features, but I'd have to blah, blah, blah..."
Me: Let's do this sequentially. Home #1 - yes or no?"
Her: "I'd want to think about what kind of window coverings we'd need for the ..."
Me: "IT'S A GODDAMN BINARY DECISION! YES OR NO? WHICH ONE IS IT? YES ... OR ... NO?"
Her: I'm going to say "no"
Me: "Goddammit ..."

Well...just sayin’ I’m in camelback doc. And I thought bingo was always in Phoenix
I’m on the other side of the valley, but, we get kicked out of our rental next month bc some snowbirds had dibs. We are moving over to cave creek for probably 2 months until our house is done. So that’s a little closer to Scottsdale and east valley
