Twitter is COOKED

You just have to unplug the Twitter and then plug it back in.

So they moved off of Google's infrastructure so they wouldn't have to pay another billion or more over the next 5 years and had problems from the move or is it an ongoing problem from the infrastructure being inferior? Or both?

The new CEO paid Google so that isn't the reason. If they've got the capacity to do things not on the cloud it probably saves them costs, but maintaining your own shit ain't cheap either especially with a skeleton crew

So the Google story is bullshit?

Yeah. Some talk it was a poorly concocted attempt to limit API calls, but I doubt we will ever know
This is why I barely pay attention to this crap. Story changes every time you turn around.

I tried to limit out my twitter the other day and couldn't get it to work. Did they already reverse that policy too?

I don't have a Twitter account so I can't see shit outside of what gets linked in threads. Hard to know whether they've back tracked or just don't have the technical capability left to consistently rate limit.

I don't know what's true here (if it is a GCP bill or not) but I don't think that this was something Elon planned out on his own. It's an excuse to cover their ass on an issue they have. They announced this change after people started running into API limits.

His blue-check mark gang will try to reverse engineer every mistake into it being a stroke of genius for Elon, but this one makes no sense. For a company that is losing revenue from advertisers, you don't turn around and start limiting views on platform.

I don't have twitter either. Don't plan on it. But I do watch a few twitter posts daily on various boards, and now those are all dead links for me.

I admit to strongly disliking Twitter and other social media. But those things aren't going away short of civilization ceasing to exist. Most "news" is dispersed via Twitter anymore. Since there isn't a true Twitter alternative, either one will emerge or Twitter will evolve past what Musk is doing to/with it. It is likely the most powerful tool in the world currently, and Musk (one of, if not the, most wealthy man in the world) is playing with it like a toy just because he can.

This is one of the biggest programming channels on YouTube...

You boys just need to let the second smartest man in the World take care of it. Very very confusing and concerning that so many are upset that it’s now a free speech platform. Some of you would have made good comrades in 1939 Germany
