TT this morning

Does anyone else find it odd that they are releasing work out numbers this year vs other years?

In the big scheme of things, not a big deal. I'm a firm believer you can't hide your work and results always show up on game days. However, what I find odd is what @joshuahuskers is alluding to. If you are releasing all these numbers to the public, why aren't you releasing ALL of the numbers then? We've heard several times it's to motivate guys. But then you don't release all the numbers anyway?

The whole thing feels really odd to me.

Very good point. It kinda feels like they're trying to hide them. Like the team vote on the bowl game and the OU game debacle, this is a poor PR move.

It’s cause the numbers sucked. And I’m positive Gerrod L mandated to dean how to message the fact they weren’t releasing 40s. Which is completely false, as evidenced by my white ass running 4.78 fully electronic at my C-1 high school in 2006.

My hunch is they're releasing numbers this year opposed to other years to get some positivity going. So when good numbers come out and they can release them to the media and we'll all talk about how awesome everything is. Get the Sipple's of the world all hawt and bothered. Releasing negative numbers wouldn't achieve that obviously....so they don't release those. That's the vibe I'm getting. Which feels sort of desperate and soft...but maybe I'm wrong.

I think you're right. Sh** we got a report from @Driveway Jordan maybe a month ago about linebackers out running skill guys. Not releasing 40 times would seem to help further validate that nugg.

We've already taken 2 QB's that can't throw: McCaffrey and Smothers. Why not take a 3rd?

In all seriousness, why even take a QB unless we are 100% certain that he is going to be an grade-A starter? With the portal being the way it is now, why not mine the portal for a QB every year vs. taking one that Verdu is going to screw up anyway? Northwestern has been doing that the past few years, and it seems to make sense.

I’m pretty strong in the opinion that you need a QB every cycle. It’s just such a crapshoot and guys at the position transfer more than any other. You have to use both methods to make sure you have a guy at that spot. Worked out for Northwestern last year b/c Ramsey was a 1-B type back up, but the previous year Hunter Johnson was bad and their QB play in general wasn’t great. I’m not expecting great things from them there this year either

Even Ohio St. was lucky they got Justin Fields in 2019 as otherwise they’re staring down the barrel of QB1 Tate Martell

fuck it all. I hate this fucking team but I can't quit them
You know Gerrod L wrote the bullet about them not releasing 40s because it was a “new testing method” for many guys. How the fuck is that possible? Guys have never run the 40 before?

they’re not releasing them because the times sucked.

Exactly. That is bullshit and everyone knows it.

Got it. I’m hungover and tired, so I suck st life today. Regardless, I knew Sean could never run a 4.78.
idk man, downhill and hurricane-force winds would give him a legit shot.

I know the team is on a break right now but does anyone have any more intel to share?

1. The golf coach left because Moos promised him a new facility to get him here...and that wasn't happening in the next 3-4 years. Sounds like a new aquatics center passed it up in terms of priority.
2. Moos did indeed put out feelers for the Pac-12 commissioner job...much like he did for the Nebraska job as soon as Eichorst was fired. He was quickly declined.
3. Don't be surprised if the BIG conference issues a mandatory vaccine policy for conference athletes.
4. Bill Busch needs to be recruiting coordinator. Part of the reason the 2022 class is looking grim is because Held, Dillon, and Mossbrucker are always a few steps behind other programs. In spite of COVID, we already had enough pre-established relationships that we pieced together a decent 2021 class, but now it's really hitting us in 2022. Busch would work wonders for our recruiting operation.

I'm sure I've got more, but I'll need to go through all my texts.

Held is quickly becoming the weakest link on the staff, outside of Verdu of course
