TT this morning

You know Gerrod L wrote the bullet about them not releasing 40s because it was a “new testing method” for many guys. How the fuck is that possible? Guys have never run the 40 before?

they’re not releasing them because the times sucked.

My thoughts exactly. If they were impressive AT ALL they would release them.

Just for pure rational defense here, not saying they didn't suck, but it was noted that they had some issues with the sensors during that testing........I'm going to assume "new testing method" and "had issues with the sensors" means the same thing and that's why times might "suck". We've now seen Omar run, we've seen Zavier run, we've seen the important guys run now, they aren't slow.

The vibe I get w/ Morris is that he just may not be our no. 1 take and we're slow playing that process. Schaefer has been pretty clear in his views that he's lower on our board. I don't love Torres as a take though if that's where we're leaning.

We're going to be in a dogfight for Kanak for sure though.

They also released the 10 yard spilt. How would the “new timing method” impact the full time but not the 10 yard split?

Just speaking technically. On the start line, there are two sensors that start the timer once the athlete starts. There is another 2 sensors on tripods at the 10 yard mark that records that, and then 2 sensors at the 40 yard mark on tripods that record that time. Soooooooo just technically speaking, knowing how touchy the system is because of the technology and the sensors, it's actually very possibly the 40 yard sensors just were shit that day compared to others. I'm sure it didn't just happen on testing day if that is the case. But no one cares about public timing on training days.

Does anyone else find it odd that they are releasing work out numbers this year vs other years?

In the big scheme of things, not a big deal. I'm a firm believer you can't hide your work and results always show up on game days. However, what I find odd is what @joshuahuskers is alluding to. If you are releasing all these numbers to the public, why aren't you releasing ALL of the numbers then? We've heard several times it's to motivate guys. But then you don't release all the numbers anyway?

The whole thing feels really odd to me.

We've already taken 2 QB's that can't throw: McCaffrey and Smothers. Why not take a 3rd?

In all seriousness, why even take a QB unless we are 100% certain that he is going to be an grade-A starter? With the portal being the way it is now, why not mine the portal for a QB every year vs. taking one that Verdu is going to screw up anyway? Northwestern has been doing that the past few years, and it seems to make sense.
