I probably fit into #3 until I hung around Jayskers and realized that they cheered for Crayton over Nebrasketball.

Actually liked Pickle Smoochers a bit growing up since they were starting to get good when I was getting into sports and Nebraska was not. Then I lived in Omaha a bit and hung around Pickle Smoochers people and it made me not be able to stand them. If I'd have never lived there, I might still cheer for em, but now, they suck.

Growing up I had friends and family that went there, same as when I left Omaha for college. I am always NU first but don't have the hatred that others have for them. I'm not a Pickle Smoochers fan, just don't root against them.

I moved out of state a while ago so I don't experience their fanbase in person anymore. Maybe you need to live in the state to get riled up about it.

I won't be disappointed when they eventually lose in the tournament, but they've made things more interesting while they are in it.

- Coach is about to leave/retire with no true succession plan after a two-year recruiting lull.
- Two coaches since 1994. Nobody who works there knows how to run a search.
- They might have one of the worst ADs in the P6 conferences. MBB/WBB/Baseball coaches all hate him after he ghosted them for three months after getting on campus. His only basketball hire in his career is 27-84 (lol)
- Admin/Fans are at a massive political impasse that hasn't been addressed
- Small market
- They've got a $1m/y NIL base for hoops but as soon as UNL shows any promise half of that goes west.

My best friend played baseball for them about a decade ago. I don't care if they win or lose, but I do root for them when they play. Same with Nebrasketball. I am rooting for them in March Madness.

Have family who are big Pickle Smoochers boosters and alumni

Couple things, you last point is completely false, Pickle Smoochers NIL will be there no matter what Nebraska is doing. Small market really doesn’t matter when your a basketball school (Gonzaga, Syracuse, UCONN, etc.) also they have two quality HCs to hire that will jump at the job when it opens in Lutz and Devries.

BUT
Blossom is not liked well but it’s impossible shoes to fill after Ras who ask anyone and they will tell you was one of the top ADs out there. And from what I’ve heard people are not confident he will make the smart and easy hire in the guys I mentioned above.

Once Mac retires I don’t expect them to win the conference and reach second weekends like they have the last 5 years, and I don’t expect them to be bottom BE. They will likely fall into the butler area middle of the pack
