Another year at Nebraska wasn’t going to do much to elevate Tony White’s profile. But if he can go to FSU and turn around that dumpster fire, it could significantly boost his chances of landing a head coaching job.

I agree that losing Tony White isn’t inherently good or bad, but I don’t see how it’s a bad look for Rhule when it was clear from the start that White wasn’t here for the long haul. Everyone knew he had higher aspirations and his departure was always a possibility once the opportunity arose.

Those using terms like "devastating," "catastrophic," and "disastrous" are being overly dramatic. Things aren’t that extreme. Some perspective is needed, and it might be time to dial back the theatrics and approach the situation with a bit more maturity.
My post was sarcasm by the way.

The sky is falling over losing coaches but we just went 6-6 and our biggest issues were the O. Rhule has always had pretty good defenses. Keep Dana and I am ready to see if next year things change to 8-9-10 wins.

Assuming Butler isn't getting this job...

If I'm Matt Rhule I'm calling Jim Leonhard first.

If he's a no then I'm reaching out to Tony Gibson and offering him $2 million/Yr

If he's a no then I'm reaching out to Morgan Scalley just in case he's not getting the Utah job.

If he's a no then I'm reaching out to Joe Rossi to see how much he's enjoying East Lansing, MI

If he's a no then I'm calling Bootleg11

White I thought was a great hire. But I don't think his scheme is the end all be all. I think Knighton is really, really good and a good recruiter at the most premium spot on the defense.
I get that but NIL has taken the place of the elite recruiter to a degree. It’s about money more than anything else now

That HC was more than likely going to be fired though.
Not this year, per Mike Bianchi (who's a pretty in-the-know writer).

Evidently, Malzahn had a sudden change of heart sometime Saturday when he voluntarily stepped down. From all indications, UCF athletic director Terry Mohajir wasn’t going to fire Malzahn, in part, because the school’s athletic program isn’t exactly flush with cash and the Knights really couldn’t afford Malzahn’s $12 million buyout.

No other coaches out there. We are cooked
NO ONE is replaceable. You've been told your whole life that everyone is replaceable and that's just not true.

There's no other Terrance Knighton in this world. There's no other Tony White. These are generational coaches, which is why they are assistants/coordinators on a, checks notes, 11-13 (6-12 in conference) team the last 2 years.

Death penalty departures...

Looks like Greg thinks Cooper is the guy who may also go.

Train is leaving the station, as it were.

I know everyone thinks FSU will be fine talent-wise, but this year really showed the dangers of relying too heavily on the portal. FSU was a dumpster fire and Ole Miss was completely underwhelming, and those were the two big offseason winners last year.

Honestly think the best thing going for White is the step down in competition. He has already coached in the ACC and I think 2 years of Big Ten showed him that the road there is easier.

That's not a hit. Gabe wasn't going to do anything here

THis is a good thing.

Also we're about to be clearing out like 40 players because of the new roster limits. We're gonna be seeing a whoooole lot of names we recognize and wish would have panned out here.
I read him calling the loss of our fourth-string running back who had 14 carries this year a "hit" as sarcasm. Especially since two of the backs in front of him are younger.

For what it's worth last time Tony moved locations, he brought no one with him immediately despite Cuse having a very solid D.

No idea if you'll see either hit the portal because we are 100% sure to lose guys we want to keep, but I don't know that either are imminent
24/7 reporting Knighton is going with him.
