We're in the COORDINATOR EMPOWERMENT Era of CFB. Too many schools have signed too many HC to albatross contracts and it's cheaper to try to prop them up with elite coordinators than buy them out.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but IDK why anyone would worry about Williams leaving. He's an average player.

I wouldn't panic over him leaving, but our pass rush has been so consistently poor for so long, he's also our best sack artist since Randy Gregory. So losing that guy probably feels like more of a big deal than it otherwise would be.

If White knows what might be coming next year after losing a bunch of dudes on defense it could be a pretty savvy career move to bounce now. Hopefully it's just purely interpersonal stuff between him and Rhule. Regardless, FSU must be ponying up some cash because it seems like there should have been options for both White and Malzahn that carried a lot less risk.
