Talked to a booster…

That's interesting, I'd be interested in seeing some kind of stats about that. It makes sense to think with everyone being on tv/social media/etc that it would be more "globalized" but it FEELS like people are staying closer and closer to home, especially in the south, or at least less willing to go to what many see as a rural location. Maybe that's just in my imagination though haha.
I think it is a shift that is coming on recently.... don't get me wrong that I feel most of the talent is probably staying in the SE, but I feel the % that is open to leaving is there is increasing.

I don't get the want for O'Brien. Look how poorly he managed the Texans. Plus, 8-4 & 7-5 don't exactly scream successful to me. It's also likely he'd have one foot out the door his whole time here. He's like a rich man's Bo Pelini, at best.

Urban Meyer is 1-5 right now with the Jags. Would you take him?

8-4 & 7-5 look pretty damn good considering the sanctions he was dealing with.

I would. Meyer has actually proven to be a winner at the college level. Lets be honest, those sanctions barely even affected O'Brien.

I'll throw the whole "GM" thing out the window when it comes to his NFL experience. Being a GM at the NFL level is far, far different than being a CEO-type at the College level.

As for the 8-4, 7-5 stuff, I think you need to look at the situation he was dealing with. The Sandusky scandal gave them about as big of a black eye as you could get. They had a bunch of players leave, lost 40 scholarships over 4 years, received a 4 year postseason ban. You're talking pretty tough and cruel conditions.

I don't care if he has one foot out the door his whole time here. If he does his job and hires a great staff, more than likely there would be someone there that would be a great candidate for taking over.

Losing 10 scholarships a year and having several players transfer initially because of the Sandusky scandal barely affected him?
2011 and 2012 were their worst classes and they were still 31st and 47th nationally. Which really weren't his classes. 2013 he had the 4th ranked class in the B1G and in 2014 they had the third ranked class - 33 and 24th nationally.

All very irreplaceable transfers indeed: https://www.espn.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/105695/looking-back-at-the-9-penn-state-transfers

Yea I don't really know that the sanctions affected him all that much. He didn't show up in Happy Valley with an empty cabinet.

Not to exaggerate too much but my worst fear in this whole thing is hiring another hot name, failing, and being right back where we are 3 years from now. I'm not saying keep Frost right now, I just don't care either way anymore.
That’s what you do, imo. Work through losers till you find a guy that works.

Kind of hard to not have them involved if you need them financially. Just a guess though.
If Turd actually makes a move I’m pretty sure the major donors will be on board for the most part. If he doesn’t I believe it will be because those with the money want to keep Frost for whatever reason. I can’t see Turd pulling a Pedey and making the move alone.
