Stock Market/Investing/Day Trading/Speculative Trading Thread

Yeah, my buddy is some regional logistics manager at Amazon and I was talking to him yesterday and he said they hired 10k people in 2 weeks(!!!) for a new site. It's crazy how seasonal warehouse work is...wild.
I bet. I hired somebody for one of my clients and she was a regional HR leader for Amazon in the Northeast. She said you wouldn’t believe the work/stress that goes into hiring and dealing with there HR issues that happen on a daily basis.

Yeah, some of these 'experts' are still predicting a rate cut by the end of this year? I'd say next summer at the earliest.

Gonna be tough, lol.

at least we have the housing market holding things up

"Pending home sales for August plunged 7.1% from the month before, according to the National Association of Realtors, down from the 0.9% monthly increase recorded in July. The result was far worse than the 1.0% decline that Bloomberg economists had estimated and was widespread. Every region recorded a monthly and year-over-year drop.

On a yearly basis, pending transactions were down by 18.7%."

New home starts dropped -11% MoM in August...and it sounds like the next release is gonna be just as bad...current inventories can only hold out so much longer...

Baby Boomer buys an acreage 20 years ago and since then the FMV has risen 300%+ and now Baby Boomer wants to buy a vacation home buuut the interest rates are too high.

It's a stroke the check vs. debt financing debate here in the camper in Westcliffe, CO.

Pro's: I get the place, no debt nor interest, and the appreciation can begin immediately
Con's: I remove a chunk-o-change from the investing pool, no guarantee that any property bought now WILL appreciate (in the near term - 5ish years)

We also have a new "wild card" in play: forego the Westcliffe property, and upgrade the truck to a 3/4 or 1 ton diesel AND upgrade the camper to a 5th wheel and do more traveling to see other parts of the country. This is Mrs. LHR's concession to get me not to stroke a check on a place I kinda like up here.

Just trying to remember how many states I have left to "put a pin in" to see if this new wild card proposal has merit. I know we haven't had the sects way up in the Northeast US (honestly - how good can Maine sects be anyway?), but I'm close to filling in the map and I wouldn't be the first man led astray by his peen.

Choices, choices, choices ...
