Yeeeeesh.

Mad Men Not Great Bob GIF

I'd love to see that broken down by industry. I'd bet a huge part of that is the new semi-conductor plants being built. here in Phoenix I think there is something like $60-80 billion worth of plants currently under construction or planned
Would data centers count as industrial construction for this purpose?

My sister and her husband are attempting to build a YUGE new home way up in the snooty section of Scottsdale. Their concrete estimate just jumped by $80K due to the new semi-conductor plant construction. ALL of the concrete in the Phoenix metro is essentially earmarked for those jobs and it has absolutely jacked the price of mud sky high. Incredible.

when it started I saw an article that broke down the scale of that operation and it was insane. It was the largest construction project in the US at the time and iirc just the foundation alone was several hundred million dollars worth of concrete. then halfway into construction they announced a phase 2 that would double the size of the project.

On top of that Intel is expanding their existing fab while also building another new one south of the metro

it's causing labor shortages in a lot of construction fields, to the point they are bringing in electricians from Taiwan because they can't hire enough within the US

EDIT:

Same thing happening in Texas, Ohio, New York, Idaho, etc...it's insane. It's not just Manufacturing either, it's pretty much across the board, though it's certainly moderating in most levels. Meanwhile, residential...lol

Brother was getting started in investing at the beginning of this year and asked me about carvana...

I told him I wouldn't as they're selling their facilities and renting them back to get cash. No bank would touch them and iirc there were talks about what to do about bankruptcy.

In all fairness, I would have told your brother the same thing...

If anyone was betting on Carvana at the beginning of the year, it was on a wing and a prayer…
