Sipple Gaslighting?

A 7-year runway was not something I was onboard with but I could've been alone.

Is this how you guys remember it? I remember thinking the extension was fucking crazy at the time.

7 years...when they gave him the initial 5 I thought, okay...4 to get roster turnover and 1 to see what HIS team can do. When limp dick Moos gave him 2 more years THAT'S when shit was like, WTF over??? 7 years...Sipple saying NOT trying to explain it away??? HELL NAH...explain that shit to me Sip. There is no explanation other than TO and the TC'ers giving Golden Tee himself the extra 2 years. 'everyone in the fanbase signed off' 'Hardly anybody pushed back' Fuck that, everyone I know was like WHAT THE FUCK FOR????

That guy needs to get off the drugs. I'm amazed there are people that stupid in the world.

7 years might have been the number for some to be making the 4 team playoff. That's long end reasonable.

I haven't read much of Sipple over the years. Was he always this delusional or has Dean corrupted him?

He's always been known as a sunshine pumper, but I will say he comes across way more humble and friendly and way less pompous than Dean. Half of his radio interviews are him saying self-deprecating stuff like "Ohh I don't know, I oughta look into that," or "Well you guys are a lot smarter than me, what's your opinion?" He's just not very insightful, and gives pretty much anybody with "Nebraska ties" the benefit of the doubt, which keeps him in the good graces of the NU higher ups.

This, sip is always an interesting cat to listen to. At face value you can’t take anything he says seriously because everything he writes is like he knows the coaching staff is reading/listening and he doesn’t want to piss them off. On the other hand you can tell he gets a lot longer leash with the staff than the other media folks so he can be somewhat insightful on things like the coach’s perspectives and roster nuggets.

I’ll never take a word he says and bet on it at the casino but I will always listen to him when he’s talking because you can get some interesting stuff in the tea leaves.

There was a loss last year that Sipple blamed on the fact that Big Ten teams have linemen with beards.

Yeah, in general I like Sip. I think he makes good observations from time to time. He’s plugged in but I take what he says with a grain of salt.

At the same time he says shit like this.

I’ve always thought Sipple is plugged in to what the coaches feed him and want him to say. I’m not a fan of guys like Dirk or Barfknect back in the day, but atleast at times they have and had the balls to call out some of the bullshit.

His Bo Pelini stories are pretty good

You always get the real info when a coach gets fired. It will be interesting to hear the likes of Callahan and Sipple say how bad stuff like team continuity really was when it’s over.

Nothing even bad. Just how Bo would always try and piss Sipple off till he responded back and then Bo would just laugh at him. Or the time when Bo and him got into a shouting match at the Lincoln Journal Star, then laughed about it next day.

I get that but you will start hearing the real info how Frost got along with other coaches and players. It definitely seems like there is and was a disconnect with him and various coaches past and present as well as players.

I thought it was known that Frost wasn't popular with a good percentage of the players he played with. He wasn't going to win any popularity classes with the Huskers of the 90's. Maybe someone on here knows the story but didn't one of the Peter Brothers deck him in the locker room his first year at Nebraska? Something went down with him and a Peter Bro.

The story goes that during his first year he was on the scout team and guys like the Peter bros and Wistrom went extra hard at him at practice as payback for being the punk who first chose Stanford over NU, then he won their respect by the way he just kept on getting up and coming back for more. I think it’s a pretty well-known part of his “superhero origin story” haha, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in that OWH comic book.

I actually believe it too, by the way. Clearly his coaching has been shockingly weak, but there’s no doubt he was tough as shit as a player.

Yeah I honestly think it would be fun and probably hilarious to grab some beers with Sip. You just have to take his opinions with a grain of salt haha.

Based on one of the answers McKewon had in his mail box question like last week now, and what we've seen so far on offense and over the last few years, it's become clear to me that he's no longer that "tough as shit Nebraska QB" and in his actual adult life he's really the "WR Coach/OC who learned his craft from Chip Kelly and Oregon". In 2018 I wanted, and thought, we were going to get the tough as shit Nebraska QB to be our HC.

The irony of all ironies is that Frost has made the program and team softer than Callahan and Riley combined.
