Breaking SI Thinks Dyl, effed up...

How is what he did or his father did any different than the Nico/ Tennessee situation last year? And why are we handling it differently?

Well Nico and his dad were even dumber in their approach. The situation is/was similar, but Nico and his dad waited till the middle of spring practice, when everyone else had already signed a QB. They were thinking they could strong arm Heupal and get his NIL deal doubled in value. Nico held out of spring practices and refused to answer phone calls and texts from his coaches. In the end Heupal wasn’t gonna let the punk and his dipshit dad manipulate him and strong arm him into a better NIL deal. He called Nico’s bluff and sent his ass to the portal. Where the best available spot was 800k at UCLA.

After all, if it worked, you could have players all over your roster holding out of practice for more money. And not just spring ball, fall camp too. No way Heupal could let that happen.

I think SI is almost exclusively AI-written articles now
They jumped the shark when they went from Elle Macpherson and Kathy Ireland to random plus sized models.

If Dylan were to come back with restrictions, does anyone really believe Dom would adhere to them? He can't help himself-it's what he does.

He will if he wants to see his kid on the field. I’d tell him right from go, if you cause any problems, if you think you can call me(Rhule) with advice or suggestions, if you think you’re gonna be treated any different than any other parent your boy is riding the pine indefinitely. You(Dom) are officially sidelined and if you don’t like it kick rocks.

This business decision ranks right up there with Blockbuster thinking internet streaming would be a passing fad.

Who could’ve possibly known that dudes don’t want to look at fat chicks in bikinis?

That's fair and I understand that there's major differences. From the timing and sitting out a practice to force the situation. I guess I'm more along the thought that you have a dad playing the market and manipulating a school and those similarities. And in the end both schools sent their respective issues packing.

Sure, I would probably still take Raiola over Chiles. Minchey?

Ok GIF

If what we’re looking at is a choice between Chiles and Minchey… (which I don’t believe we are, too many good QBs available and too early in the process to have narrowed your search down to those 2. No way Rhule is that stupid)

That being said… If we’re looking at someone (QB) on that level, I would consider taking Raiola back as long as everyone is on the same page.

1. You ain’t getting 2+ million. Maybe 1-1.5 with incentives.
2. Dom is officially sidelined. Period, no exceptions.
3. The team agrees (majority) to bring you back in.
4. No guaranteed starting spot. We still might bring in another portal QB to compete with you depending on who is available and interested.

If Dylan and Dom can agree to those 4 parameters I don’t see much downside to bring him back. But if I’m Rhule it has to be that way or no other way.

Some of you would take this circus back? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Probably not. But if he takes a significant pay cut, Dom is sidelined and he agrees to let you bring in another portal QB to compete for the starting spot. I don’t really see a downside.

But it’s also a long shot that Dylan and Dom would agree to my hypothetical parameters.

I am probably way off base. But this whole situation strikes me that Dom got pissed off after UCLA game (could have been sooner). In the heat of the moment, he overreacts, lashes out at Rhule and decides Dayton and Dylan are moving on.

This could all be end up biting him in the butt. But too much has happened now to take him back. I also don’t see Dom swallowing his pride and asking to come back.

You can’t bring a player back with “restrictions “. That might sound good but in the long run it is a recipe for tension and a disaster. You either take him back or you don’t. Personally I think it’s time to move on. There are good enough QB’s out there that can get the job done if you beef up the O line.

It's too much of getting back together with your ex. You might agree that things are different now, but you're deluding yourself

To be honest I think it would tank Rhule's credibility quite a bit with the players and fans at this point. I mean there was barely ANY outcry from fans when Raiola announced he was going into the portal, I think people fully understand the situation was just a bad fit whether they know the ins and outs and behind the scenes or not.

We saw the NU/Raiola experience, I don't think as a fanbase we truly believe it was ever going to come to fruition the way we all wanted, and Rhule/the program itself feels refreshed in a way that makes it seem like we're back on the original track after trying to compromise the original vision for the last two years. I for one would rather see what the vision looks like in its next iteration than go back to the Raiola well again.
