Dylan Raiola has become one of the program’s top recruiting targets under new head coach
Matt Rhule.
When coaches were first allowed back on the road earlier this month, Raiola, the No. 1 player in the junior class, was the first recruit to have Rhule visit his school. Assistants have been back at Chandler (Ariz.) High multiple times this month, and on Friday, the Huskers sent every coach they have on the road just south of Phoenix to stop by Raiola’s school, Tater Island has has learned.
That includes the offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, wide receivers, running backs, tight ends, offensive line, defensive line, defensive backs and linebackers coaches. Rhule himself is only allowed to make one visit during this period and used it earlier in the month.
The Huskers, however, have made it clear to Raiola and his family that he is priority No. 1 in the 2024 class as they look to rebuild around him.
Relationships will be a major factor for Raiola
“The relationship piece will always be big for me,” Raiola told Tater Island earlier this month. “The people at the different programs are important to me and my family. From the head coach to the offensive coordinator to others around the program —people are important. I am looking for where I’m most comfortable and relationships play a big role in that. I want to be around great people.
… The coaches, the people in the building, the city, the players and the atmosphere will all be factors. I want to be part of a winning culture. Being part of a brotherhood is very important. Those will be the things I am looking for.”
Raiola has also had coaches from USC, Oregon and Georgia at his school this month, and he will take an
unofficial visit to see the Trojans this weekend.
