Put yourself into the shoes of a 18 year old kid down in Florida that has offers from all over.

You were born when Callahan was named HC. Rhule is the 5 coach in your lifetime.
You’ve experienced 10 winning seasons of Nebraska football and 9 losing seasons. It’s a near guaranteed lock that Nebraska has a 50% chance of having a losing season.

Kids aren’t beating down to come here no matter who the coach is. Unless it’s Saban

No shit but a lot of recruiting is about relationships and connections. Oh yea Nebraska is supposedly a top 10 NIL school too. There is no reason if you have good recruiters with our supposed money we can’t produce a top 20-25 class in next years recruiting class easy. All of the other coaches the past 20 years were around or not far off that without NIL.

Anyone honestly think Rhule would put together a staff less experienced than Frost did?

Never once even considered it. This definitely feels like an episode of the Twilight Zone. That being said, Rhule still kills Frost with experience as a HC. So I am going to trust him until he proves me otherwise. And staff hires are not reason to stop trusting him. Question him? Sure. But I still fully trust and believe in him.

I think it almost has to be by choice. It's not like we are lacking money and Rhule is a well known and respected coach - why would everyone be turning him down? In his press conference he said that he wanted a young staff. It's just that no one knew he meant THIS young and green.

You either trust Rhule or you don't. I believe that Rhule is a program builder. None of these hires change that for me.

The part I don't get is the recruiting. Rhule has seemed to prioritize guys that he believes will work their asses off on the trail and, in many cases, have a recruiting background. I honestly have no recollection of Raiola doing any recruiting since he's been here.

To be fair, Raiola had the benefit of in-state kids.

I don't love the Raiola hire. But I think it makes sense, given how Rhule has clearly and intentionally gone about building his staff. Will it work? No idea. But Rhule has a plan and is executing that plan.

Did he get the OL to perform last year? No.
Does he have recruiting connections with JUCOs? No.
Does he have recruiting connections in talent rich HS? No.
Does he have guys he could bring in through the portal? No.
Is he known as an energetic recruiter?  No.
Does he have extensive coaching experience at this level or higher?  No.
Is he known as being a great teacher?  No.

It concerns me, but at the same time, Rhule has the benefit of the doubt on this one. Like, he's done this at other places that he turned around.
