Breaking Raiola is returning

SO, what was our OL problem under Frost? Was it the OL coach or was it S&C, or was it a combination of both? I remembered when Frost hired Greg Austin, we all thought it was a descent hire and I can't believe that the OL would be dogshit under 2 different OL coaches unless it was Frost who was dictating how to coach the OL vice letting the coach do their thing. Who knows, maybe during Raoila's interview with Rhule he mentioned how his hands were tied under Frost/Whipple and wanted to do this vice that, but was over ridden and Rhule agreed with the different approach would've led to more success. I'm not going to start panicking thinking that the sky is falling like some taters in this thread.

A couple notes on why this makes sense, although I hate it

Matt Rhule is going to adjust to the Big 10
Matt Rhule is going to run the ball, and pass game built off of that
Matt Rhule did this at Temple
I've seen a few videos now where Matt Rhule's idea of an offense could look like Michigan in 2021
We've been told that Raiola is a run the damn ball type of guy
Run the Damn Ball works in the Big 10
Those philosophies seem to match what Rhule wants
He is young like the rest of the staff

Again, I do not like it

Subpar talent, IMO, scheme, and S&C. Ethan Piper and Trent Hixson starting at any point in the last 4 now 5 years is a joke. Scheme didn't match S&C. Coaches pulling in different directions.

The part I don't get is the recruiting. Rhule has seemed to prioritize guys that he believes will work their asses off on the trail and, in many cases, have a recruiting background. I honestly have no recollection of Raiola doing any recruiting since he's been here.
I don't think I've ever heard Raiola speak before.

Not surprised off what I heard last week

I wonder what Rhule sees in Raiola. Its interesting that of all the previous coaches, that Raiola is one that will still be on staff.

This is my educated guess on the "why" of keeping Raiola. I'm not trying to justify or even support it, because I'm personally not a fan.

#1. Rhule wants to run the ball. And run it effectively. Rhule believes in IZ & Power/Counter. He's run those run schemes at every stop.

#2. Raiola played at WiscyDicks, where they run the holy shit out of Power/Counter, and IZ.

#3. We run very little Power/Counter this year, mostly IZ. My guess, is they're on the same page of theory of running the ball, and how to run ball.

Just my guess.

If I may ask a follow up question, why does God allow suffering?

No shit but a lot of recruiting is about relationships and connections. Oh yea Nebraska is supposedly a top 10 NIL school too. There is no reason if you have good recruiters with our supposed money we can’t produce a top 20-25 class in next years recruiting class easy. All of the other coaches the past 20 years were around or not far off that without NIL.
I hope Nebraska has that much in nil, right now I doubt it because they haven’t shown it much on a large scale.
But also with NIL the need for an elite recruiter is overrated. Everyone here is creaming their pants over the thought of Elijah Robinson coming to Nebraska. He didn’t become an elite recruiter till nil and am had dump trucks of cash. A good posistion coach can be an elite recruiter with nil backing
