I have been advised Michigan isn’t part of The Midwest. With that truth established would anyone want host a disabled veteran on dream Midwest deer hunt? We can talk football or whatever around the campfire.

They are in eastern time zone but Bob Seger is the GOAT so we will allow Michigan to join the Midwest Mafia

Last week I took the most expensive fishing trip of my life. I was in the middle of nowhere and my engine seized due to an oil leak. The sensor did not go off. It was a 500 dollar tow back to the nearest town where I had to stay for 48 hours until triple A kicked in. I did one get day of fishing in though:

I mean if you've gotta be stranded somewhere ... Bonus points for instructional guidance on how to poop in a toilet. Hell, yes!

I was not stranded in that nice of a place. I was stuck in a town, due to religious reasons, did not sell alcohol.

I sometimes forget there are places like that. Good old Nebraska has a full blown liquor store in every gas station state wide. I was in Maryland a couple years ago and had to grab a few things from Walmart. After grabbing what I needed I asked a worker “where the beer, wine and spirits are?” She looked at me like I had 3rd arm growing out of my ass. Apparently it’s only sold in liquor stores. No gas stations, No grocery stores or any other retail stores.

Also, In college we used to go down to a buddy’s lake house in northern Kentucky and it was a dry county. I was about 20 years old when I learned that dry counties were still a thing. 🤣 I literally thought they were only a thing in the early/mid 1900s. 😳 I thought everyone was fucking with me when they said we have to stop and get alcohol now before we cross the county line. Blew my fucking mind…

My grandma lived in Bentonville, AR for a while. That's a dry county. I was baffled as well. Lot of places where grocery stores only sell beer and wine and no hard stuff.

NC you have to go to a State run ABC store to get the hard stuff. Beer and wine in grocery and convenient stores. They have changed the laws to allow distillers to sell their own product. Distilleries used to have to send to Raleigh to get stamped and then shipped back to sell it in the ABC stores. Bible Belt🤦‍♀️

I am so fascinated by state liquor laws. My brother lives in Franklin, TN, a very upscale suburb of Nashville. Until recently, they had some of the dumbest laws ever which have recently been amended. You could buy beer in a supermarket but no wine or liquor. They have liquor stores where you can buy wine and liquor but no beer.

They also card everyone no matter how old you are which inevitably starts a lengthy conversation about whatever state driver's license you have and are you enjoying your visit, etc.

Johnson County, TN, where they make Jack Daniel's whiskey, is a dry county. Go figure.

Up until 2019 grocery stores could only sell 3.2 beer in Colorado no hard alcohol or wine either.

In Dallas County they don't allow stores to sell alcohol before noon on Sundays. Supper annoying. Apparently they also had a law up until the late 80's or so where you had to be a "member" of the bar you were in to be able to drink, so they would have membership cards for a dollar or so that you had to fill out before you could order a drink.

A kid in a car seat? That must have been the most responsible mom I've ever seen from the 80s. Usually would be laying down sleeping in the seat, playing on the floor, or rolling around in the bed with your brothers and sisters. My little brother used to stand up in the backseat between me and my sister and his only seatbelt was my arm if we came to a sudden stop.

Traveled coast-to-coast laying down in the back of a Ford station wagon. Dad went down to Omaha Mattress and had a custom sized one made, and Mom sewed a duvet for it and off we went. Hard to win a spirited game of "auto bingo" when your ass is laying down on a mattress. #TheGoodLife

Those big station wagons were awesome. Especially with the backwards facing seat trying not to get sick from the exhaust fumes. Even if you had ac it never got used just cruising with all the windows down at 55 mph.
