Halibut have been finding the inside of Canned Corns fish box. Season started April 4th. Largest so for is only like 35-37#.

May 1st additional species open. We will be able to smash Black Rockfish and Lingcod in addition to Halibut.

Getting all my practice in before I head back to the @akmarks Babes Island lodge in July.

Well boys and ladies.... ooops, Canned Corn did it again - in Brittany Spears voice...

Today we had a hard take down before I had the other rods set up. We lost that fish. Once I had all rods fishing, instant DOUBLE. 35# and 65# hanging. Get all rods fishing again. Bam... DOUBLE again! Up comes a ping pong paddle which I released. The other was a 55# slab.

So we were done but only one small problem. We need to wait til 1100 to be able to get out do to the tide. I launch from a beach, no dock.

So we were done with awesome fish in 1 hour basically.

first steelhead.png
This past weekend I took my soccer team to Kodiak where we proceeded to get our ass kicked. I was able to get out for the first time this year and caught my first every steelhead. They only experience a fall run of 300-500 fish and they top out at 26 inches. Fall run fish are pretty skinny in the spring.
