I always get a kick out of the "Thank you Lord" people on TV whenever they bag a big buck/bull elk or catch a big ole bass. From my experience from fishing tournaments and dealing with hunters in general, a lot of those people are shady as fuck and do whatever it takes to fill a tag or win a tournament. The bro code doesn't exist anymore to leave other people stuff (sometimes wives) alone.
Honestly, I was "mad" for about 15 seconds, then the emotions turned to "disappointed". Which is where they remain. Just really, really disappointed that someone would steal from another hunter.

Last year at the same WMA, I left my ground blind in for nearly two months without incident. I did talk to a couple of guys in the parking lot that were surprised to find out I owned that blind as they'd seen other guys using it, which I'm A-OK with. I falsely assumed this one would be treated respectfully as well.

Already bought another smaller one. Amazon will deliver it tomorrow. This one goes to-and-from the spot with me every day.

While that definitely stinks to lose that deer, at least it went to a multi-generational hunt and make that young person's day. Maybe the good Lord will grow ya another one to track and ruminate about for next year. 🙂

Yeah good point. And I had a few good 3.5s this year that it took a lot of control to pass on that should be in the clear unless one of my damn cousins get an itchy trigger finger

I’ve only seen a few deer over the past several days. There were some guys hunting in a neighboring corn field that shit a couple deer leaving our farm to feed.

The wind has been brutal for my farm but yesterday shifting from the west tomorrow. I was able to sit in my favorite tree stand, which is 10 yards from the tree stand I build when I was 13 years old. I saw the buck at 5 pm and it gave me a good angle at about. 75 yards. Not a monster but a pretty solid 3 year old.

Looks like I will be making another trip up to try and get another one after this SOB decided to show himself

That's a head just made for mounting!

Bleh, a couple rifle hunters on the neighboring property got my target buck on first day of rifle. Guess I can put the bow away for the year now. I did get a 5x5 Thursday night to at least have my deer steaks and roast for the year.
Hell of a trophy photo 🤦🏻‍♂️

Quality never goes out of style. Congrats on the deers stand "workmanship" at 13 years of age, and the nice deer. Nice to have you back in the lower 48 for a spell, amigo. 🍻

Back in my day the tag was Buck only so habbits die hard.

FTR i will shoot a big doe if I see one.
I have a buck only tag this year. I also possess a doe tag. I’ll shoot a doe at some point if I feel the itch to pull the trigger. The Buck tag will go unfilled unless I find a trophy or a management buck.

But dont you just want to eat a deer?

Yall target/trophy humters are weird. I'm just happy to get a buck
I love the meat, but also the challenge of a mature buck. There is also a lot of time put in throughout the year to make the property as good as it can be for the herd.
Creating better habitat and food during the leaner months is not easy, and part of reaping the rewards is the hope for the opportunity at something special.

I eat a lot of deer. Everyone would love to shoot a trophy buck but only some will manage for them. Why not give them the opportunity to get there and shoot a doe for meat? Antlers on a garage floor tell no story and impress nobody. You quickly forget about them. But what it does do is hit the reset button by 1-3 years on a deer potentially reaching trophy status.
