Straight-walled cartridges and shotgun slugs are now exempt in your state?
No they are turning poosy as well, but they don't put it smack dab in the middle of the easiest time to kill mature deer.

Hunting during the rut with a high-powered rifle takes zero hunting skills, sorry.

Too many landowners afraid that gives bordering public land hunters and excuse to go drive deer off their land onto public/neighboring private.
Jesus fuck so if it hops a fence and dies you're screwed without any type of recourse possible?

I suppose I can see that justification tho its still pretty fucked up, but Nebraska has always been a 'fear mongering' controlled state in the legislative areas.

Yep. If it’s not your land and you can’t get permission to retrieve the deer, you are shit out of luck.

Shit, in IL I know someone that shot a nice buck, only for it to go onto a neighboring property (maybe 25-50 yards into the property), and could see the deer dead. Asked permission to retrieve, but the owner was anti-hunting and wouldn’t allow it. Anyway, she just allowed it to rot away in what was essentially her front yard.

I got my start and grew up rifle hunting. My dad had quit hunting after having kids and I got him back into it. I have shot some very nice deer with a rifle. I still use the same gun I bought when I was 11. But I picked up archery a few years back and 1,000% prefer it to rifle.

But I’ll always rifle hunt during season. Mostly because it’s the only way my dad hunts and I want to be with him for as long as he can go. And we’ve hunted the same property for 23 years, I’ve watched the landowners kids grow up from babies to adults. It’s more of a reunion to me. Really just enjoy seeing everyone and being with my dad. Anymore, with a rifle, I don’t care if I shoot a deer. I seem to enjoy the success of other people in our party more than any of my own.

Side note, hunted public up by Decorah, Cockeye 2 years ago. Killed a buck but it died on private. I wasn’t aware you could pursue a wounded animal onto private in Cockeye—still found the landowners and got permission.

I’ve had a few jump the fence and never had an issue.

I think archery hunters are viewed a lot more favorably in that situation though.

I'd expect that in the yuppie sesspool of ILL

I hunt there, but don’t live there. And if you saw the area and houses, it’s FAR from yuppies. Really odd because she is some type of lawyer, and the surrounding area is just full of very low-income degenerates.

Youth and Olds it makes sense with the high-power, middle aged dudes that aren't crippled not so much.

Yeah I've switch to letting the boy shoot the deer and it's 100x more rewarding than touching the release myself.

In Cockeye you just have to be unarmed and you can pursue that deer just about anywhere.

The description of her actions screamed yuppie and usually they live together lol

She may be a yuppie, but she is living in a very small, incredibly poor, crime-ridden town.
Lots of theft of farm equipment, and rampant poaching. Had a poacher shoot a doe with a gun on opening weekend after she already had an arrow in her a few years back..
