Outdoors thread

Soooo ... coffee raises a rookie question: what did you do with your piss? I've heard everything from "bucks get curious and will head right to it" to "dig a hole and cover it as you go" to "old milk jug". Since our ground blind has been sitting there for a couple of weeks, relocating it day-of-hunt might be an issue, and I'm mindful of the entire scent control mantra. I won't know which way the wind is blowing until opening day, really.
I generally don’t get too worked up about the piss situation. I just pee outside the blind. I’d honestly be more concerned with a bottled or synthetic piss than real urine. I make mock scrapes with my pee and am starting to lean on believing that a real mature deer can pick out the bottled stuff. Of course it goes either way from time to time so there’s always those guys that’ll fight you on that too.

I wish I could get an animal right on the trail.
Nice and easy spot!

Haha not quite, had about 50 yards of platte river sand to pull him through to get him there but luckily my brother came hunting with me this morning so wasn’t a big deal to drag him. Would have sucked by myself but definitely done worse.

This guy was heavy though

I just got winded reading this
It took us 1.5 hrs to get back up there and 2 hrs to get down.

My friend drew a desirable antlerless tag about 15 miles south of Anchorage.
He borrowed my rangefinder at noon, and said "I'll call you in a couple of hours for some help."
He did call gosh darn it. We were out till 1AM butchering and hauling out the first load.
Then went back the next night - in the snow - to get the rest.

Sometimes living here is just surreal. This was during the work-week. Didn't miss a day.

I’ve had big bucks follow a synthetic trail perfectly then others that just seem to give zero shits. I piss out of my tree stand all the time, about a decade ago I watched a deer walk over to where I pissed the day before and scrape on it - ever since then I stopped giving a shit.

I’ve also had does walk right under me and investigate Copenhagen spit.

I really think as long as it doesn’t smell like human, they’re just curious.

I tend to agree with this thought process.
