That’s how it happens and using thermals is a complete game changer for us. We hardly do any day calling anymore, just a little easier doing night calling with thermals. We both have last years Bering optics Super Hogsters and they are amazing.
I’ll look those up. If you have any still shots or video clips from them, please share. I can see myself doing a lot of night calling in the future.

I'm curious about how all y'all think about two conflicting studies that I've read.

One says each adult coyote kills many deer fawns each year. The other says coyotes have larger litters of pups when the coyote population is reduced.

I don't have a personal observation about deer population in my family's hunting area since I haven't been able to hunt for a few years. At the same time, I see a lot of posts about coyote killing contests sponsored by local volunteer fire departments or other groups. I'm confident the sponsors of the coyote contests have good intentions.

The family members that still hunt my stomping ground report seeing more coyotes and fewer bucks. Is it possible that shooting coyotes en masse results in more coyotes a few years later due to that larger litter of pups thing? I don't know, but...maybe, based on anecdotes.

Perhaps you're on to something. And if we let all the fawns live, then we'll all need "cow catchers" for the front end of our trucks because we'll be overrun with deer.

I guess my point - like yours - is attempting to balance out mother nature can be a fools errand. The law of unintended consequences is paramount in her world.

The basic rules is that you do what is right for your property. Mother Nature tends to level things out over time as @LoudHogRider said, but that can take a decade, and who wants their hunting to suffer for that long?
Also, hunting coyotes won’t eradicate them as much as it does relocate them, which can be great for your property. They will return eventually, but you enjoy it while they are few and far between

Didn't realize this till today, but former OL coach John Garrison likes to go "Ripping Lips" as well since we are in some of the same FB fishing groups and have the same boat (different colors).

What kind of boat?

What kind of boat?
Bass Cat Lynx. I have an ‘18 and he has a 2020 or 2021. He liked one of my pictures that I posted about redoing the flooring on my boat.

Tell me about your solar setup on the garage, please.
I currently have an 8Kw system and I’m about add another 2Kw worth of panels to it. The panels themselves are REC Pure 400 AAs which are supposed to be still 92% efficient after 25 years and using a Solar Edge converter. The reason I put them on the garage vice the house is just to prevent any future house roof leaks even though I just replaced the roof last spring. The detached garage, I don’t care too much since it’s not insulated and basically houses my truck and boat.

Gah! Poor gal. She’s lucky she’s not dead.

We don’t fuck around when it comes to moose.
They can be really dangerous.

We have a young bull living in our area, and he scares the shit out of my daughters at least once a week lately.
We’ve got 8 calves that hang around my school. Their mothers have been hit by cars so now they are a pack. I almost hit one ever night when I leave practice. Pretty sure it’s how I’m going to die.
