Breaking OLD THREAD Dylan to UGA

I'm not quite sure what people are expecting out of a consistent 4-8 program in recruiting. Honest question. Nebraska has the longest bowl drought in P5 IIRC. We are a shit program right now.

Rhule, Satterfield, Donnie, Cooper etc...THEY ARE RECRUITING FOR A 4-8 PROGRAM. What on earth are we expecting them to do that they're not? Close on 5*s and high 4*s?

I haven't seen any cogent argument yet for why a brand new staff at a 4-8 program should be able to recruit a top 10 class before they've even coached a game. If you have an argument for this, please share it.
Yes, fans forget when we were a dominant program how the recruiting battles would often materialize. NU would go into states and take most of who we wanted. We could easily justify our odds to land them because we lorded over CFB. We are on the opposite side of that now.

We can boast about how we support the program, optimism with Rhule, and where facilities/NIL are competitive, but let's be honest that outside of that we're a fucking dumpster fire based on the past 6 years.

I'm honestly surprised when a good player with nice offers picks NU. I'm happy but wouldn't expect it based on our performance.

We had 2 of the 3 worst coaches in Nebraska football history the last 6 years.

no. hes great. but @DuckSker needs to GTFO with him being "generational"

one of the most cap takes ive seen in quite some time
side note - what does "cap/no cap" mean? I've seen it creep into social media lingo the last couple years and I get the gist of it, but where the did it originate? Is it short for something?

It’s not part of my normal lingo but from my understanding “cap” is equivalent to saying “that’s bullshit”. If you preface something by saying “no cap” it means you are being serious with whatever you are saying.

I take it it’s just a coincidence the oline coach was seems leaving the stadium with boxes and barking at dogs in the north bottoms

I agree with your sentiment... but just to clarify, Nebraska was NEVER a "we take whatever guys we want" recruiting juggernaut. Never ever ever. Not even during our 60-3 period from 1993-1998... even then we recruited below our stature as the #1 program in CFB (we never had #1 ranked recruiting classes).

This is difficult because Rivals and Scout did not do team rankings in that period obviously. But I remember following the team in those yrs and we lost out on a ton of recruits I wanted/thought we'd get. Even right after we won National Championships we were still getting beat out to recruits by Florida, Florida St and Miami (and others). Also Osborne wasn't a star hunter - he basically went after the guys he valued, regardless of their hype.

My point is, even at the height of our program we were probably bringing in #7 to #12 ranked classes. And that was when we were the #1 CFB program in America. That frankly is our ceiling here due to geographic location. If Rhule gets us to #25 this year that's a success. If he ever gets us to 10-15th ranking that's very impressive. We're not a FL or Southern California school, we just have a ceiling here.
