Official TPB Red Dirt Country Thread

apparently Felker joined part of Isbells set as well, although I haven't found video of that either. What an amazing festival that must have been.

I know it's been discussed here, but Turnpike is so damn good. Brought Me, off of their upcoming album, is so very fine. Can't wait till the 25th!

Gents, I’m a little disappointed, I just scrolled 8 pages and saw little/no reference of both Jason Boland and Reckless Kelly. Reckless in their final year of touring right now so don’t pass them up if you get a chance!

new Zach Bryan is killer

oh and I guess a little group called Turnpike Troubadours dropped a record today

Bought 6 tickets to Zach Bryan in Swimtown in April. Tickets doubles in price. $260ish a piece for lower bowl with fees. $150ish for upper bow with fees.

He’s on pace to sell out back to back nights

Poh-tay-toe
Red dirt music genre has been blow up and bastardized.
Ffs look at the OPs list of red dirt singers
Parker McCollum
Koe Wetzel
Flatland Cavalry
William Clark Green
Josh Abbott Band
Randy Rogers Band
Turnpike Troubadours
Zach Bryan

Turnpike Troubadours, Josh Abbott band and Randy Rogers band are the only ones that truly qualify.

Everything else is a joke.

I can fuck with Cross Canadian Ragweed, Stoney Larue, Turnpike Troubadours etc.

But the water had been muddied the past few years of just throwing anything country that’s “different” in the red dirt category and ruining it

Parker has gone mainstream, agreed
Koe sucks, agreed
Flatland is good stuff, I mean their sound mimics Turnpike pretty heavily so?
Not a huge W.C.G. fan but he's a red dirt OG as are Josh Abbott and RRB
Turnpike is the best country music act in the world
Zach Bryan isn't red dirt whatsoever, he's singer-songwriter Americana type stuff now. He gets thrown in there for being from Oklahoma

Why do we gotta label everything? Can’t we just like the music we like and be happy?

all fair. I love the pan handlers as well.
But Evertving that isn’t main stream country gets labeled red dirt or Texas country(which is the same fucking thing, just depends if you are from Oklahoma or Texas)
Loved in Stillwater for a few years and fell in love with red dirt. But today it seems EVERYTHING is considered reddirt because they don’t know how to classify it

Texas Country is from Texas, boss. Those Okies be doin their own weird thing.

Grady from the Cross Canadian Ragweeds opened up Grady’s 66 in Yukon. Has a ton of live music and they play true red dirt music. It’s nice.
