Official Nebraska Cardiac Beaver Slayers Offseason Baseball Thread

To my knowledge, PO. IIRC, he didn't swing a bat all fall.

Same as 2023. Childress wants to use him 2 times a weekend (pen) instead of 1 (starter). This also gives us an option to use him during the week, pending his previous weekend load.

I'm pretty sure our closer is the IWCC transfer Broderick. He runs it up there (96-97).
Understandable. Just wasn’t sure if they would give him a couple swings with how successful he was in those situations last year (especially considering his hr #s).

When do baseball tickets go on sale? Need them OSU game tickets. I don't care how cold it is in March

Gonna need a preseason primer here soon @PonyBoy. Lots to like just on paper with the roster, but curious to get your thoughts on lineup, rotations, matchups etc.

Brumbaugh LF
Silva/Bolin CF
Carey SS
Swanson DH
Frost RF
Overbeek 3B
Sanderson 1B
Helligso C
Stokes 2B

Friday Mac
Saturday Horn
Sunday Brockett/Walsh

Christo-Worthley-Timmerman all setting up Broderick.

There is an off chance Bolin wins CF and Silva out hits Stokes then Bolin hits 2, Silva 9 and Brum moves back to second base.

Not trying to knock the kid but does Brum have a plus arm for the outfield?

I know it’s more of a luxury than it is a need but I don’t think our OFs have had great arms the last few years.

They will use Silva/Bolin loser as a Garrett Anglim defense guy in the 7th/8th inning like last year.

HB's starting 9, rotation & leverage guys looks good to me, not sure about the batting order though. Bolin should be our starting CF with Silva in LF as he has weaker arm strength & I feel Bolin can cover more ground with his reads. The staff loves them some Brumbaugh for sure, but I'd rather have a table setter who can move better.

Brumbaugh has by far the weakest arm of anyone floated for OF. And that's saying something as Silva's is below average.

Overbeek will need to hit to keep his spot in the lineup or Stokes is at 3B.
