so you didn't believe this was the ground up rebuild a ground up rebuild Alberts and Rhule said it was and you expected to be 4-1 at this point?
In today's landscape of college football, you don't need multiple seasons to be a foundation. There is no excuse for the offense to look this bad.

It's just an excuse.

It's CYA mode.

Yesterday they played scared. That's an indictment of the culture created by the prior regime. They did it against OU and Michigan last year as well.

I can see your point. I don’t necessarily share your sentiment.

If you’re a competitor at a high level and you play scared that’s on you; not anyone else.

I would tell my kid the same thing you just said; that's how you have to approach it as an athlete. You have to believe you control your own destiny and in fact it is mostly true.

But teams do get infected with negative psychology sometimes. It is one of the reasons coaching matters.

Really? Has anyone done anything sustainable without recruiting classes? No one comes to my mind.
To build a foundation I meant. Go get your coaches and players and stop making excuses.

Only losers make excuses. This university does a great job of making excuses.

I don't hear the coaches or players making excuses. They seem to be taking ownership.

Rhule did come in with a pre-existing blueprint. That isn't an excuse.
MY original post you responded to was referring to Nebraska fans making excuses as well.

They'll blame, the qb, oc, oline coach, and even dc before the hc.

You know, maybe, just maybe, it's the hc as well.

I haven't exactly been impressed with Rhule thus far.

His two wins were against two teams I already forgot the name of.

Okay, so you have passed judgment on the guy in September of his first year in what was promised to be a ground up rebuild. So, your standard IS that we should be 4-1 right now? We were only favored in two games by Vegas, it isn't like we have even a handful of players who will get drafted by the NFL.

You are a very realistic guy.

What do you want 10 months and five games into a new HC and staff? The roster is what it is. Frost and Riley, Frost moreso imploded NU football. That isn't an excuse; its a fact.

I see a roster that isn't ready to compete at the highest level yet. It's a roster that is probably in the lower half of the P5 in regards to talent.

So, in yore opinion, where should NU be at this point, 10 months and five games into a new HC and staff?

Where did I saw we should be 4-1? I see an awful offense and team who tucks their tale between their legs against "big brothers."

I was never over the moon about Rhule. Wasn't my firce choice. Wasn't my last.

Well according to some on here, there's quite a few sunday guys on our team.

I expect to have an offense that isn't bottom five in college football.

Rhule hired the turd.

The falls on Rhule.

People need to stop looking at the portal for redemption. The quality of players available is declining. The Covid year guys are leaving, and as they do, the big bubble of fairly decent players the extra year of eligibility forced into the portal is declining. Pretty soon it will almost all be players moving down. The handful of truly good guys who want to re-locate will only be going to good programs. Portal guys will be guys who either never lived up to the hype or had other issues.

Long run the only way to build something solid is basing it largely on recruiting.

Apathy has fully set in with me too
Michigan 2021 legitimately killed me. The way they lost that combined with me having Michigan fans as close friends who were absolutely shit talking me into oblivion after that game was the last straw. I really want them to win and I still follow it and watch the games but my emotions are just not anywhere near what they used to be.

That said- if and when they are good and playing in big games again, I’m sure I’ll start to get more nervous again. But for now it’s just a fun activity to do on weekends and an excuse to sit on the couch

Andy Reid could be calling our plays and our offense would still be shit. I’m not totally excusing the coaching but we simply don’t have the talent to be much better on offense than we’ve been this season.

What I would like to see is some of the young bucks at WR get more plays. But other than that, what personnel changes could be made?

What play calls should have been made yesterday that would have gotten better results? Did you see our early struggles to run the ball?

This is my biggest issue. Watch the way Benhardt, Teddy, and Cork. All get beat in pass pro. it’s literally the same thing. Yesterday was a great example. They get run around. Almost instantly. Are all 3 just so deficient of talent they can’t let dudes run right around them….all 3 were 4 stars. They have some level of talent. It shouldn’t happen with the regularity it does.

I’m also extremely biased towards offensive styles….which I dislike great fat running backs and not running tons of read game with the QB. So I’m overly uppity and bitchy about it.

They don't have an answer for this question. They're just the old man yelling at clouds. They admit this roster is 4-5 TDs worse than Michigan but somehow think if we hired David Copperfield as OC he would call some "magic" plays and we would have beat Michigan. They are the dumbest fucking people on earth.

I hate what we’ve wanted to run from the start and I’ve hated everything that Satterfield has said about what he wants.

If I had my way we’d run an Air Raid system that makes it easy to plug and play QBs at the rate Mike Leach was able to for around 30 years.

Im more preferential to spread option. Coastal Carolina style. What Leipolds OC at KU is similar to that regard. Basically any style spread offense where you’re running triple, double, RPO most of the time. Read people. Don’t block them.

It’s funny you used that phrasing because I proposed that we start a channel that the unbearable people get sent to for a cooling off period called “old men yelling at clouds”.

I could get behind it. I’m so tired of looking like we’ve got no clue about what we are trying to do or what we want to accomplish. It’s maddening.

Decide what system you want to run.
Recruit to fit the system. Not the other way around.

It is not the mark of good coaching to constantly be molding your entire offensive system to the players you have on your roster. That’s the sign of the inability to recruit the players you want.
