I doubt they fire him, but it wouldn't surprise me if he jumps to the NFL.My Ohio State friends claim if they lose to Michigan this year, Day is gone.

Ohio St fans are the most entitled and delusional fan base in the Big 10.My Ohio State friends claim if they lose to Michigan this year, Day is gone.
Jeff Sims 31 Turnovers - 25 games played - Add in 17 total fumbles -projected turnovers per full year 14.88 (avg turnovers per game x 12 games)It's not like Casey didn't have his share of turnovers.
yeah, freshman yearJeff Sims 31 Turnovers - 25 games played - Add in 17 total fumbles -projected turnovers per full year 14.88 (avg turnovers per game x 12 games)
Casey Thompson 21 Turnovers - 29 games played - 6 total fumbles - projected turnovers per full year 8.69
Now Jeff has improved on this, but he has been turn over proned in the past.
Didn't mean to imply Sims would be better. Just that Casey wasn't a lot better.Jeff Sims 31 Turnovers - 25 games played - Add in 17 total fumbles -projected turnovers per full year 14.88 (avg turnovers per game x 12 games)

Yeah, no point to put those word out to this fanbase and put more pressure on yourself voluntarilyI guarantee you it was a GA. No position coach would go "we're gonna beat the shit out of Minnesota"....I guarantee you none of our offensive position coaches think that.
The main focus this year needs to be finding a way for this offense to work without asking the QB to be Superman like we did under AM for 3 straight years. Much easier said than done when you don’t have a lot of proven talent on OJeff Sims 31 Turnovers - 25 games played - Add in 17 total fumbles -projected turnovers per full year 14.88 (avg turnovers per game x 12 games)

didn't they say at the time that people they knew in the NFL said to grab Sims immediately?Sims also has two years of eligibility. Alternative is we were hitting the QB transfer sweepstakes again or starting Purdy/Haarberg. Staff knew what they were doing when they brought him in.
I don’t understand this reasoning from many fans. Not just you. But seeing it reminded me. Depth at QB these days is pretty much non existent with the portal. Anyone’s first guy goes down. They’re probably fucked.Even if Simms is better we'll miss him from a depth standpoint
Agree that outside of a few teams most have this problem. Just wishful thinking having a backup that when #1 goes down your chances of winning games doesn't decline significantly.I don’t understand this reasoning from many fans. Not just you. But seeing it reminded me. Depth at QB these days is pretty much non existent with the portal. Anyone’s first guy goes down. They’re probably fucked.
And I’ve head a lot of about oh sims will get hurt. Blah blah blah. He might. But we’ve been snake bitten by injured QBs as of late. I think sims will make it thru fine. He’s not small. Runs the ball well. And hopefully they can keep him out of the dropback as much as possible. RPO. Movement passes. Run the damn ball. Pap. And sub Haarberg in to run the damn ball.
It’s hard for me to talk too much shit about OSU when they were pretty much a reversed targeting call away from beating Georgia and eventually winning a championship. Day OC wise out coached kirby the DC that night. That doesn’t happen very often. Day is a pretty good coach.Penn State seems like that pick that has everybody's attention. I just think it might be a year early. I know their defense should be nasty which obviously helps a ton.
Yeah this is the year where it wouldn't surprise me if Ohio State finishes 3rd in the East.
I have said Day has regressed since Urban on what it takes to win big games. DL/Defense, Running and special teams have all regressed. Now you have uber talented WRs and QBs you can win a shit ton, but they aren't a tough team.
Played for a natty a few years ago as wellIt’s hard for me to talk too much shit about OSU when they were pretty much a reversed targeting call away from beating Georgia and eventually winning a championship. Day OC wise out coached kirby the DC that night. That doesn’t happen very often. Day is a pretty good coach.
Yeah we are snakebit FOR SURE.I don’t understand this reasoning from many fans. Not just you. But seeing it reminded me. Depth at QB these days is pretty much non existent with the portal. Anyone’s first guy goes down. They’re probably fucked.

He gives himself a shot to win big games all the time because he always develops his qbs. There isn’t anyone better than him and Riley at qb development.Played for a natty a few years ago as well
Agreed, no way they fire him. That would be like if NU canned TO when he was coming up a game or two short of the title. Day continues to recruit at a high level and field a great offense each year. He was a missed FG away from playing for the title last season.I doubt they fire him, but it wouldn't surprise me if he jumps to the NFL.
OSU historically has some of fewest bad years of any team in college football. Seriously, just go back and look at their records. At this point if Day loses 2 games, they very well may be better off firing him. They obviously haven’t learned from our dumb fan base for firing winning coaches.
Not sure how people keep overlooking this TBH.For all the naysayers on Sims, Thompson was there for every practice and scrimmage in the spring. If he thought Sims wasn’t as good or better than him, I have a feeling he would have stayed. His mobility will help our o-line be that much better.
To me Casey was the more sure thing. Sims has a wider gap between ceiling and floor.
I think about how they want to play and it seems like Casey would have been a better fit. I am not talking X's and O's wise, I am more talking about how they want to play. It wouldn't surprise me if we see a pretty conservative offense that tries to limit mistakes and protect their defense. To me that seems more like a Casey Thompson need at QB than a Sims.
Casey had a lot of gun slinger in him. I don't think he's the kind of guy that would like playing conservatively. It's not like Casey didn't have his share of turnovers.
