Most likely Hire? Your Out of the Blue Hire candidate & why?

Most likely hire: Matt Rhule
Most out of the blue hire: Tom Hermann

Hire that message boarders would hate but makes some sense: Jeff Monken

Here's a Jeff Monken scenario I could get behind: Monken is hired. Brent Davis takes the Army job. Monken brings in a coordinator nobody knows about....Matt Drinkall. "Running a no-huddle, Power-Spread system, Drinkall’s offense set conference and school records for points per game (54.3) and yards per game (530.8) during the regular season. The 2018 offense produced a quarterback accounting for 3,739 yards and 47 touchdowns, while simultaneously producing a running back that accounted for 2,788 yards and 41 total touchdowns. Averaging over seven yards per play, the 2018 offense additionally set conference and school records for total points, total yards, points in a game (83), points in a half (69), points in a quarter (49). All three records were set in separate games." Drinkall obviously lacks power 5 experience so let's pair him with a run coordinator, Scott Fuchs.

Monken then calls up Phil Parker and says "Sup bro? Wanna coach a defense that doesn't have to carry an entire team" and Parker says "Fo sho fuck dem racists fools in Cockeye City" *for reference I am not sure of the lingo Monken or Parker use.

Mickey Joseph can stay.

Rest of those dudes can bounce.

Sean Teter gets hired as a strength and conditioning coach. I become an insider and probably hang out all the time in Lincoln. I tee-pee Callahan's yard every Friday night so he has to wake up and deal with that before games. Idiot.

FWIW....some of you message boarders talk about Mickey Joseph being hired by the AD and not Frost as a plant to get Aranda. What about Wes Fleming? Maybe he's a plant. Former analyst at Army and former coordinator under Matt Drinkall.

Likely - Rhule I'm like 87.6% sure this is happening

Out of the blue - Dabo as my Lincoln Riley scenario

Mike Bloomgren as my Mike Riley scenario

Most Likely Hire: Bill O'Brien - He just seems to be what Turd wants and should be available this offseason.
Out of the Blue Hire: Chris Petersen - there was a small amount of smoke a few weeks back that died ff really quick and no one is talking about him now.
Hire I Want: Matt Rhule or Chris Petersen - both bring different things to the table, but both have a resume that proves itself. Rhule is the king of the rebuild and Petersen has one of the best winning percentages out there.

Most likely: Feels like Rhule/Liepold/Doeren

Out of the blue: Dan Lanning. We're his home region, and in one of the only 2 conferences that are going to be relevant in a few years.

You do realize the offensive numbers he’s touting Drinkall for were at Kansas Wesleyan, right?
And? Kansas Wesleyan under Dave Dallas before Drinkall took over had become really, really bad. There's a reason Drinkall has risen from NAIA to Army full time assistant so quickly. And a reason his coaching tree keeps rising as well. A bunch of young guys all running successful NAIA programs.

I know that Matt Drinkall isn't going to be the next offensive coordinator at Nebraska. But he's an example of a great coach out there that nobody knows about. There are a lot of those. Gundy seems to find them all the time and hire them. Hoping Nebraska can be good at that as well.

You see Lanning’s presser this week? Out of his way to dispel any leaving rumors. Different than what you normally see - seems to genuinely love Eugene.

I did not... I'm just wildly shooting from the hip.

TBH, I don't think there are any true "out of the blue" candidates likely that haven't already been linked to the job at some point in the search, but that was the one I could find some rationale for.

I was actually very impressed by his response. God I'd love to have him though.

It appears that the Aranda talk that was heating up has completely died down ever since Ewald shot out his Twitter reply - did the "shoot down the rumors" work? he was one of the first names listed and I feel like people have had to work hard to shoot it down. Moving Aranda from Baylor is much easier to me than #2ndChoice from Cincy. I do think any "out of the blue" would be a retread guy...

Until I hear otherwise I will say:

Most Likely: Aranda
Some out of the Blues that would be interesting: Jim Mora, Manny Diaz, Dan Mullen

An out of the blue QUESTION: what if David Shaw came to the B1G to stay in a relevant conference and face off with his old boss in Harbaugh? I feel like he's a guy that had been incredibly steady, yet is constantly forgotten about. He makes BANK at Stanford, but does relevancy and legacy matter more to him as he gets to the latter half of his career? Is he fed up with the "Ivy" style that Stanford runs administratively? His style would fit in the B1G immediately. The risk is, we are getting him on the way down as he has had a downturn with 2 tough years in his last 3.

Aranda would feel very Lincoln Riley-esq. I could see a deal already being in place, just like it was with Riley at this time last year. And now we are just waiting to finalize it and publicly announce it.

Most likely: Leipold
Hasn’t signed an extension. Whisky goes full bore with Jimmy.

Out of the blue:
Jeff Hafley
Or
Shane Beamer

These guys seem like they’d be Turd type guys

Absolutely sickening posting this.

Most likely Rhule
Out of the Blue : Urban

The search firm we're using is a good one and it did bring Riley to USC when nobody expected it to happen ..

I think Turd has a big set of balls and will do what he can to hit a homerun with this hire and go against the Tradition Coalition. I also think he could be playing a game of 3D chess with the media and fans and will have his cronies send out little nuggets of fake news to deviate his actual ace in the hole ( Urban ). We know they have talked when Urbs was here for the OU game, so maybe some sort of arrangement and deal was made then ..

One can hope, can't he ?
