I was busy this week helping out on another Trial in Missouri.

Late yesterday afternoon the verdict came back Guilty on all Counts as charged.

I didn't post about it cuz I was so fucking tired and had to drive back home so it was late as fuck.

Also I didn't post about it because I was clearly the 2nd chair for this trial. I maybe did 30-40% of the work leading up to the Trial and only 20% of the Trial. At Trial I only argued for the State on the Motions and objections. The County Prosecutor did 100% of Voir Dire, Opening Statement, Evidence and Closing. (She is the best Prosecutor I've ever seen with Closing Statements. 10/10)

PS: despite her name she is a white girl (redhead even)

Love it!! When I was at UNL I did my junior year abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. This was '73-74. There was a fabulous steak house at the Ocean Terminal called the San Francisco Steak House. They proudly advertised that they flew Nebraska beef in 3 times a week. A few of us would eat Chinese food for as long as we could stand it, usually about 3 weeks, and then we'd splurge at that restaurant.

The icing on the cake was that just around the corner was a legit New York Deli called Lindy's where we'd indulge in cheesecake for desert.

Damn I loved Hong Kong back then, not so much anymore.

Unfortunately in Missouri we did not have authority by Statute to ask for death penalty to be considered.

Even when you can ask for death penalty in a case there is a list of required aggrevators that the State must prove up and argue to warrant death penalty to be considered by the Jury.

And then it's up to the Jury to first find guilty on the whatever Count(s) that have death penalty and then they all have to agree 12-0 for death penalty.

In Missouri the death penalty decision can also be a 11-1 or 10-2 and then it goes to the Trial Judge.


This is what happened with my Murder trial last June.

Platte County Jury came back guilty as charged on all counts.... but 10-2 on Death Penalty.

The Judge (a Jackson County Judge) decided on Life Without Parole.


PS: that case was a police officer that was killed, my policy is always if you kill law enforcement then the State is gonna try my hardest to kill you back. I don't care if I lose on the pre trial aggrevators and the jury never even gets to consider the death penalty... I know the Defendant spent 6-8 months sleepless worried about the needle. Fuck em

Had kid number 2 Wednesday, first boy. Little guy and mama are doing great and already came home yesterday after a C section. I’m right there with ya, when is too soon to go back to golf league and not be a bad dad?

me and my league partner went right back to league. just dont be a douche & stay out all night. another guy in our league just had a baby too and his wife wanted him to quit like 3 weeks before the due date 🤷‍♂️ thats insanity
