bro are you the only attorney in southwest nebraska and northwest kansas
do you just drive from town to town and tell everyone that an attorney is in town
Attorneys in the area:
Cheyenne County KS (St Francis): 0 attorneys
—> But, Lisa is there 1 or 2 days a week but she lives and practices most of the time in Goodland KS (Sherman County)
Rawlins County KS (Atwood): 0.5 attorneys
—> Holste only practices part time because he has like 300 cows and that’s his true love.
—> Leblanc is the new kid, he moved there in 2020 and got elected Rawlins county attorney but he just moved to Garden City (2 hours south) and everybody is pissed. I don’t think he is even running for re-election.
So now Rawlins County is down to 1 attorney who practices maybe 10-15 hours a week.
Decatur County KS (Oberlin): 2 attorneys
—> Hirsch is the best attorney in NWKS and has been the county attorney for 35 years. Dude is a genius and has been asked to be a Lt Governor 4 times and each time said no because of his hatred of politicians and Topeka. Love it.
—> Abbott is younger (39) and from north of Columbus Nebraska. His wife is from Omaha. He was a truck driver for 10 years before deciding to go to UNO and get a bachelors then decided to go to Law skewl. Total work horse, he is 1 I’d those guys who can’t stop moving. Great guy and a great friend of mine. He came to my wedding and almost died eating only Indian food for 4 days straight.
Norton County KS (Norton): 6 attorneys
—> 2 guys that are old as hell and will retire any time now
—> 2 guys in their early 40s, each works for the 2 old ass guys above. (The Walters are a nephew and uncle operation)
—> Melissa Shoen, county attorney for multiple counties and just loves prosecuting. Weird but she is good and nice so it’s cool.
—> Abby is a new girl, like 1 year out of school. She works for Shoen. (She is ugly as sin tho, like really bad even for rural Kansas)
Thomas County KS (Colby): 7 attorneys
—> 4 old as shit guys that just like Norton it’s amazing they are even still practicing
—> Justin Barrett (best Criminal defense attorney in all of Western KS and it’s not even remotely close) Dude has full sleeve arm tattoos on both arms, wears huge Diamond stud earrings and wears bright suits and shirts. Gold necklace, bracelets, watches and 2 or 3 rings. He openly admits to trying to “look the part” because that’s what the majority of his sketchy criminal clients want and expect from their defense attorney.
—> new County Attorney Rohr, great dude and looks like the Bear from Jungle Book. I may or may not have smoked some devils lettuce with him 2 times. Shhhh
—> Lamb, dumb bitch who I can’t believe got through law school and passed the bar. Late 30s and not bad looking yet can’t find a man in rural KS to stick around… all you need to know about how awful she is. She almost got disbarred twice when she was the county attorney for spending county money on personal things and mal prac from prosecution errors.
Sheridan County (Hoxie): 1.5 attorneys
—> Eland is kind of a douche but a good attorney, his entire office floor is hardwood made up of wood from the former Phog Allen fieldhouse basketball floor. They had some booster thing where you could get 1 square foot with a donation and he donated enough to do his office. It’s Actually pretty sick and I hate basketball. He is like 55 years old.
—> Pratt, he sort of practice and he sort of is the county attorney but he is battling Cancer so you can’t give him too much shit for only working like 8 hours a week.
He is like 65 years old.
I’m typing all of this while driving. I’m in Norton KS right now waiting for a meeting with another party involved in the big Church land fight I was talking about a few weeks ago.
PS: @Woodrow F Call I was just looking at 2 full sections (that’s 1,280 acres to any city slicker reading this) of dry land corn that has all been fried. Totally gone and it’s so bad they say they can’t even feed it to cattle because of the nitrate levels. Looks like a war zone out here. Have a Coors light for NWKS tonight.
