Mickey Joseph

Would be a really bad hire unless it’s for an analyst position or maybe QB coach.

Couldn't agree more. We have about as much money as we could ask for to get a proven, talented OC. If we end up with Korn and paying him out the ass....woof...

Thankfully, we all know by now that making millions of dollars does not guarantee making good decisions

If it happens I wonder if they’ll just start calling it theatre instead of football. All it’ll be is some pathetic show for the fans that long for the days where we were “running triple option” and had fullbacks from out west.

I don’t think Korn gets this job. It would be one hell of a jump for him and we really settled hard.

Jake Peetz would be an infinitely better choice than Korn and he’s still out there.
Only part that worries me are all of the old heads in Scott’s ear telling him to “run the damn football” and bring back the glory days. With that said Scott still wants to throw the ball, and I don’t think hiring Korn would change his mind on that. If anything it would just show Scott was never planning to turn any of the offense over to anyone, basically he’ll be an overpaid analyst that might add some wrinkles to their option package they already implement.

Would rather have a proven OC with P5 experience

I could see a guy like Korn coaching RBs or something but does he even offer anything on the recruiting trail?

Hadn’t thought of that, he likely offers nothing in that department.

I have no problem if Frost wants to go and hire someone who has some experience integrating elements of the triple option into the spread. I've got no problem if he wants to go and hire an OC who has called the triple option for years to blend ideas. But hiring a guy who has been a co-OC for 3 years in the Sun Belt conference and doesn't even call his own plays to be your next OC is sofa king stupid. Frost would be betting whatever paycut he took on the idea that Korn is a generational offensive mind and the odds of that aren't great

He's a young enthusiastic guy so if he has an old hand like Joseph to point him in the right direction, he will probably be pretty good.

I don't even give a shit if Frost loves him as a QB coach and wants to bring him in to do that and contribute ideas. But OC is, to repeat, sofa king stupid.

Exactly. There’s nothing you’re getting with this hire if it’s made. A large step up for him would be as a position coach at a P5 school.

Scott Frost cut his buyout in half and pay down by 20% and basically gambled 8.5 million on Willy Korn being able to help? Christ have mercy if that be the case.

QBs coach if anything. No way this is the guy.

You’ve been pretty spot on tonight but I think you’re over reacting on this one.

Remember what Frost’s clear goal is: small tweaks to get us over the hump. Someone to take some stress off of him in-game. Someone to be another set of eyes upstairs for mid-game adjustments. Again, if it’s Willie Korn, he isn’t getting the keys to the vehicle. He’s just getting a co-pilot.

They will scheme together. They will game plan together. They adjust together. The only difference between this year and next year will be who holds the play sheet during games, but the play sheet is ultimately developed by Frost. And that’s not a bad thing if you stand by what you said: Frost consistently out-schemed his opponents this season.

That OL room should sue Greg Austin for malpractice. I’m sorry, but a kid like Benhart is too talented and strong to look like that big of a moron on the field. Same goes for Corcoran. That’s the room that I honestly think the next guy is gonna walk in and say “What the fuck do you mean the last guy couldn’t get these guys ready to play?”

That room is way too talented to be as historically bad as they were.
I still would like to know why Nouili is your 2nd best OL right now. How he was your 5th option at OG?

Like I know enough about this shit to be dangerous, but I saw him against Ford and Buffalo Wild Wings to say we should give him a shot when Pieper was sucking donkey dick

Turning over the play sheet to a guy who has never called plays seems suboptimal

Korn’s listed salary for last season was $140k so we could definitely hire him as a position coach and still give him a nice raise. I’d be okay with this in theory.

If Korn comes in as OC, my reaction will be…not good.

I know it doesn't matter but the braintrust over at the cable installers union seems pretty confident in Willy Korn.

That's like analyst money. Let's see if we like your ideas and maybe down the road we will get you on staff money.
