Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North head coach Jamar Mozee accompanied his son, 2025 wide receiver Isaiah Mozee, and the No. 1 DL in the country for 2024, Williams Nwaneri, to Lincoln for the junior day on Friday. Coach Mozee has been to Nebraska before and interacted with a couple of different coaching staffs. He had a unique perspective on today’s event and provided excellent insight for both visitors.

“We got there at 9:00 this morning,” coach Jamar Mozee said. “We got checked in, ate breakfast, and then we started touring. We got to meet the new staff. Coach Rhule spoke to the whole group of visitors. We saw the facilities, talked to academics, and they got the height and weight measurables on them.”
The top item for coach Mozee was to meet the new coaching staff. He met the old coaching staff under Scott Frost and said there are similarities. He also sees differences and can see some positives about what they are doing already in Lincoln.
“It was really important to me to meet with the staff today. Nebraska is an organization that I have a lot of respect for. I did enjoy Frost. Our staff went there and worked with him and learned. He opened the doors to us and we really respect that.
“These guys are no different. Very hospitable and good people. Coach Rhule seems very genuine and that trickles down. He’s also hired a lot of his former players, I think there’s 13 of them, so you know he’s very big on relationships. He seems very hospitable, very genuine, very open, and so there are a lot of similarities there.
“There are definitely differences in the structure and how they are going to do things going forward and hopefully it will bring them success. I think that it’s a positive in the direction they are going.”

Players share their thoughts with their head coach

Williams and Mozee shared some personal thoughts with coach Mozee about the visit. Nothing surprised them about the visit, but with William being a senior this fall, coach Mozee feels like Nebraska has Nwaneri thinking about some things.
“They are both very straight forward guys and flat out they said that they both liked it a lot,” coach Mozee said. “I won’t say it surprised them, but they both liked it a lot.
“With William being a 2024 and being a little closer to the end of his process it’s making him consider some things going forward with Nebraska. No doubt about it. My son, a 2025 wide receiver, was blown away too. He really liked the new receiver coach, coach Rhule, and enjoyed the visit.”

New construction taking shape in Lincoln

When coach Mozee and his son first saw Nebraska’s facility construction, they had just broken ground. The new facilities aren’t complete, but he and his players got a great chance to see what they will look like and how nice they will be once they are completed.
“The new facilities are a ways away from being finished, but we got a chance to tour them today. They are massive and you definitely understand how special that is going to be. I think the first time we came here they were breaking ground and now you can see how big and how nice it’s going to be. It will be special.”
Nebraska was clear today that they would like all visitors to return for another visit. The first date that was discussed was the spring game next month. Official visits weren’t mentioned for Nwaneri, but coach Mozee knows that conversation is coming soon.
“They definitely talked to us about the spring game,” coach Mozee said. “They wanted us to come back in the spring. They are encouraging that for the spring. Nothing much was said about official visits for Will yet. Those are conversations that are going to happen going forward.
“They have invited all of us back, invited me and my staff back to come in and learn, and with the 2025s it’s just flat out communication. They keep in great contact with me. They are doing a really great job.”

They are still staying tonight to go to practice in the morning, aren’t they? I hope so. If so, kinda unusual that he did an interview in the middle of a visit.
