I think a lot of people still care about Husker football. I think they have came to accept the fact Frost will likely lose a majority of his games and it doesn’t hurt like it use to but it’s been that way for awhile. We need to keep looking for the right coach. If and when we make a good hire the fan support will be at an all time high with what we have went through for how many years. All of the secondary sports we are good at prove it. Husker fans will always support a good product. Honestly the way Husker fans are supporting the football program at this point might be the most impressive because of how shitty the product is.
I literally plan Saturdays in the fall around game time. I don't think Frost is the wrong coach, but that's just me. In my athletic career, I've had a really shitty coach, some okay coaches that had talent around them that made it look better, and a couple really great coaches that if I would compare, were essentially different levels of an Osborne like program that resulted in Ws. I've also seen first hand, didn't technically play for him, but have seen the day to day of a baseball powerhouse and what took coaching, player, and culture wise.
In saying that, I'm a very internal motivation person. I don't need someone to get me going or to tell me the right things to do as far as work ethic and habits goes. I can do that myself. I know some can't. I'm the type that is coached once, maybe twice, and I'll understand do my best to fix it. I do think Frost is the right guy for this program. I also think Frost is the right guy at maybe the wrong time in society and in college football for how he wants to build this culture and program. I think Frost has plenty of flaws, but I also think the players have plenty of flaws. Recruiting is on Frost, perfectly acknowledged. And if a player isn't doing it, you recruit over him. Problem is, I'm not sure Frost will have enough time, based on social media and fan noise and message boards, to fix those initial mistakes and attempt to recruit and develop those next players. And the main reason for that is because fan expectations don't meet reality. University Admin's opinions might meet reality, but if fans stop showing up or supporting, that forces their hand some.
I don't remember a lot of elite Nebraska Football, so that's probably why I'm cool with riding it out and letting Frost try to figure it out. But that doesn't change my expectations. I do have an end of the rope for me with Frost, but I don't think I'm there yet to be quite honest.
