I dont see him sticking it out there for too long. Hes going to be the hottest name on the market this summer with another solid season. Syracuse doesn't exactly seem to take football serious either. I could see him getting a big time job really quickly.
It really depends how much he likes being up east since he grew up there, but you're probably right.

I will say if he can make Syracuse good, recruiting up there probably gets pretty easy.

He will get the USC job when they can Riley. Or he will get a good NFL job.

But I’ve been told recruiters don’t matter any more becuase everyone just goes to the highest bidder.

(I don’t believe this)
We have all these weird reasonings as to why we aren’t recruiting at a certain level. Maybe it is pay or winning. I think NU is too conservative and our assistant staff still has some below peer recruiters.

It looked like we were going to start rolling in KC and St Louis however that flamed out after one class.

I had also thought that there was going to be some rebalancing of classes via cuts as we have huge numbers in underclassman that will continue to cause class imbalances if they don’t trim soon.

Bingo. In addition to "assessing the NIL market rates" for players, I thought our former Patriot GM would have a bigger voice in whom to 'croot and class balancing. If this is going to be a minor league for the NFL, let's run it like one, FFS.

they weren't huge class imbalances prior to the 105 as we had gone back to being a large developmental program with lots of walk-ons. The only thing that mattered was class distribution balance in the 85 (I am talking about prior to the "NIL scholarship" days here)

It will be interesting to see how many they grandfather - will they grandfather down to 105 or grandfather even more that what's necessary? We won't know who gets grandfathered (although it will likely leak over time). But grandfathered players really won't affect class distribution for recruiting.

Well that’s good news isn’t it? If he’s currently set for North Carolina like everyone believes, then more twists and turns could only be good for us.
No, he's saying Nebraska and Michigan are trending down. The future twists/turns are SMU making a run to topple UNC.

Sooooo….N?
The grandfathered player portal window opened today.

Something's going on with this. I don't know what it is other than it appears (since he sat out part of the season and 'Cuse is accommodating him) both sides are okay with the split up.

That would lead us to believe this is a last second NIL race. Si?
Yes, it sounds like he is going to where the NIL is highest. That doesn't mean, though, the losing teams don't have the funds to acquire him. It just means this particular guy is not worth that much to the teams that are pulling out (in this case, Texas, Michigan, Nebraska), probably because those teams already have some measure of the talents on their rosters that this guy brings.

My question is when things like this happen do we have a back up to go to or do we just strike out and try to scavenge for a replacement? I guess other option is transfer portal down the line.

I doubt it is worth it to drop a lesser player. I think they either see how things develop this fall in terms of late bloomers and flip candidates. I doubt they plan on hitting the portal to replace a freshman they were recruiting, as the freshman wasn't a candidate to immediately anyway. Portal guys are to fill holes in PT players. There will be less money for portal guys given most revenue sharing will be already allocated to other players, and it will be used to fill PT holes.

If they don't find a replacement in the 2026 class, I'd think they wait until the 2027 class. It doesn't make a huge difference to wait until 2027, looking at the roster, especially if you find a guy that will be ready for PT his second year. We might need a portal guy even if this guy committed because this year's LB are either seniors, sophomore or freshmen in eligibility.
