They have money all over the place because they have a billionaire running and committed to their NIL collective.
We have a billionaire (family) committed to and running our NIL as well. It’s hard to say that’s the issue.

The other thing about that OT who committed to TT over Texas, I think Nebraska would make a similar offer if we were in the same situation. For the right kid in the right circumstance, we’ve proven we’ll throw a bag out there, but we’re not doing it for everyone.

At some point we’re going to need to figure out a more aggressive plan. Texas Tech is finding extra NIL money through taking away from women’s softball. We keep losing and the thought is that the most desperate set the market however aren’t we seriously in need of a ton of blue chips to try to half way catch our “peers”?
The worst case is a roster of overpaid players you can’t add what you need. You pick and choose where to be aggressive based on your needs. If they feel compelled to be the high bidder for everyone we recruit we will end up under talented with no money. I feel like we probably are doing the right thing if neither Texas nor us will outbid UNC.

NIL collectives can’t pay players any longer without it being an allocation of revenue share.

Well, we will find out quickly whether the NIL clearinghouse works as intended or not. They’ve made it clear that NIL has to have a business purpose and needs to be in line with market value for the services, but Tech is still using it as pay to play.
If Tech is controlling NiL payments it is revenue sharing.

If Rhule can develope diamonds in the rough, then we are able to pay for the ones we want. I trust this staff when they decide or not decide to drop bags on recruits. I believe this staff recognizes talent that others can't.

That’s just not true. Tech just threw another 7 figure deal at the top softball player in the country for her to return. They have money all over the place because they have a billionaire running and committed to their NIL collective.

Nebraska just doesn’t have the depth or top end boosters some of these other programs have.
With the new ruling isn’t there a cap and some uniformity or schools can just yolo and out big everyone regardless of rev share etc? I keep hearing Rhule etc say we are in such great shape compared to most other programs then we keep getting out bid vs doing the out bidding.

I know this staff really really wants Sone. But I am sure there is a limit to what they’ll pay for Sone even if there were additional funds left over and above that limit.

We will not consistently compete with our peer programs without bringing in a higher percentage of blue chip players. There is no way of developing around it.

I'm actually curious to see if Texass Tech can make the Texass aTm model actually work though. I'm in a total wait and see with them before I get ready to jump off the cliff.

So I assume when they say a "$5.1 million deal" they mean revenue sharing.
That's $1.7 million a year. They are more than 8% of the rev-share cap to a single high school lineman. Interesting strategy.
So some clarity on this:

They actually promised him 2.3 million (over three years), but told him if the rev-share cap goes way up in the next couple of years, they could increase it to 5.1.

And then the agent bragged about it being a 5.1 million deal. 🙄

“Or if there is minimal adherence to regulation of the cap..." Total mess 😂 Wtf is this bs.
