Just hard to get excited about promoting a secondary coach to DC when the secondary was absolute ass. Maybe he'll be a better DC than secondary coach, but still underwhelming. Is the not being able to find a NFL job after moving on from the Bills not a red flag anymore either?

It wasn't any different from year before

The more I think about it I’m actually kind of fired up about Butler. I think he’ll have a chip on his shoulder to prove himself.
He might suck, but this dude walked away from a legit shot at coaching a Super Bowl champion because he wanted to be a DC so bad. I don't know, it doesn't feel like a bad dude to bet to me, but maybe he will be the next Scat

Would've liked Leonard (and maybe we get Symons if he wasn't going to be coaching in the CFB), but lol at the reaction to Butler+Snow. Michigan has done just fine hiring NFL coordinators the last couple years. Will play out on the field.
We didn't hire an NFL coordinator...that's the difference...We just hired the Eric Bienemy of coordinators. Always interviewed, never selected.

It's funny how everyone is like how can you be annoyed or under whelmed by this. It's because we consistently make the wrong hires in key places and we've done it for the better part of 2 decades for fuck sake.

It seems We're the only Blue blood that can't go out and hire proven anything. Fuck I think we're the only Blue blood program to ever be down this long as a program.
I once did a lengthy study on the length of "down time" each Blue Blood has had.

We are now #1 for longest time in the shitter.

MacDonald was an LB coach when Harbaugh made him DC. Don Martindale was bad with the Giants, but I guess he did have experience!

This is a complete 180 from what someone told me came directly from Rhule’s mouth the other day.
I'm sure you're already on it - but any chance we can see what your guy has to say about Thamel? Maybe Thamel is out of touch...for the first time ever...
