The last assistant DL coach from the NFL Rhule brought on was.....

Terrance Knighton...except he had 1 year experience coaching in the NFL. But yeah let's be upset about Bradden being brought in from the best NFL team after he worked with a 4 time Super Bowl winning defensive coordinator.

Go suck the Chiefs off somewhere else, guy.

But also, yes

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to prefer an experienced DC - who has shown success at every stop - than promoting a position coach.
It’s such an inexact science.

How’d you like the Diaco hire? Banker had a lot of experience as a DC with some success. Chins was a college DC for two years with some success.

GBR

You guys love to bitch man.

Why was Tony White some Godsend and Butler is chopped liver? It’s not like White was some super experienced DC. Rhule has had good defenses everywhere he has been. I don’t expect that to change.

I like that Snow will be there and I definitely like hiring someone from the Chiefs that has been coaching one of the better D-Lines in the NFL the last several years.

I think I like it more knowing how many of you are freaking out.

About 99% of the board disagrees with me, but I have no problem with this. Wasn't on my list of wants, but those may not have been real options. I think Butler is qualified, Rhule saw it first hand this fall.

I would like to see the Foley situation addressed.
I'm guessing ole Ed's contract is just going to run out on 12/31

Rhules always had a good (big) D. I’m going to trust him

Don't mind the hire other than not bringing in studs from his team. Never thought the meltdown here would rival tater island. Some of y'all need to stop acting like bitches. I'd be willing to bet a guy that was in the final 2 of becoming DC for Sean McDermott knows a thing or 2. Add in Snow? Think we'll be pleased

I don't think Butler forgot how to teach secondary play. Really seemed like something was off with the coverage calls v. what the rest of the defense was doing for most of the year (which seems more like a TW problem than Butler).
Butler was the pass game coordinator

Can't be a bad thing from coaching under Spags

I
Matt Rhule said “I want to run this defense.” So I’m taking him at his word.
I took that more as him saying he doesn’t want to hire someone who is going to run an entirely new system that doesn’t fit the current personnel on the team or recruiting profile of guys we’ve scouted.

I’m sure there will be scheme differences next year.

Butler was definitely not in my top tier of candidates. However, that does not make this a bad hire. Penn St promoted him to DC back in 2013 and he was a finalist for the Bills' DC job.
