Ok sunfish. Are there any brim that aren't sunfish?
Nope, brim or bream (again bream is spelling, brim pronunciation) are larger sunfish not in the bass, crappie, and perch category. Some confusion might surround some sunfish like pumpkinseed which some consider bream. Btw, fried bream, biscuits, and bream gravy is one of the finest breakfasts you'll probably never find or experience unless you make it.

Ok not everything. Brim is fine. I.e. bluegill to people that know fish by their actual names.

Good catfish is OK. A long ways down the list on best fish but not terrible. Pond grown are terrible.

Gravy is good.

collards, grits, fried green tomatoes, anything with okra are all terrible.

Are Sand Bass just white bass or do y'all have yellow bass down there too and you just lump every little bass with stripes into being Sand Bass?

Also, don't you guys call Flathead catfish something weird too?

Never heard of a sand bass. We have a bunch of bass from black bass family. Flathead catfish has a big flat head and tastes like shit, at least where I'm from. Our pond was stocked with channel cats, but flatheads got in and we eventually had to drain it after 15 years and then restock it. I'm also not familiar with a yellow bass. We have stripers which are fun fish. They run like salmon in the Spring and can get upwards of 60 pounds. Same as ocean stripers, but locked in river systems by dams.

I know the lake I'm looking to retire on in GA has big blues and stripers - that's pretty common for lakes down there I think.

Sand Bass might be more of an Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama & Louisiana thing - Georgia and the Carolinas have a whole different lake/species situation than the rest of the south.

Of all the catfish the belly fillet from a flathead is my favorite - the side fillets on a flathead that you normally pull off a channel are trash though. I've always thought the 1-2 pound blues that are bled well are the best fryer fillets but still dogshit compared to crappie, bluegill or other stuff so I just don't fuck with them unless I'm needing a ton of fillets for a big fish fry.

What lake in Peach State are you looking to retire on?

Nice. I am big on thru paddle source to sea of southern rivers. On my list for sure as the Alt and Oconee are last of the Ga great river systems I haven't paddled completely yet.

Oh man, that's badass. If you're ever looking for something similar to switch things up Northwest of Thunder Bay Ontario there's endless river systems and canoe trails where they'll drop you any distance you want to tackle and you can work your way over to Lake Superior. Every day you'll hit spots where there's walleye, lake trout, musky and pike that have never seen a lure before.

We had a partnership with canoe canada up there who would outfit basically whatever people wanted to do but I know there's a ton of other ones too that focus more on the Rainy River and Lake Superior/Thunder Bay areas.

I grabbed a Paddling Rivers of Michigan book last year and have some on the mind. In Laws are up there and I'm a rock hound as well, so looking forward to getting on some Northern waterways.

Theres a page pops up on my facebook feed everynow and then, a guy who purports to be from mississippi has moved to Cockeye and makes a point to trash Midwestern Cuisine. I love it because he says Iowans suck, which I wholeheartedly agree with, food aside. I think its satire but it gets a chuckle out of me. In all honesty, southern food as a whole is better than anything known for coming from the midwest, except for burgers and steaks. I gained 15 lbs in 6 weeks of living in Baton Rouge. I don't see how its an argument. Even the deer down there taste better. Of course, living in the south, I was also subjected to squirrel stew, collard greens, and the hygiene you come across in southern hole-in the walls. Some things are better not to think about. Also, when ordering sweet tea in the south, a Bona Fide midwesterner will want to get half sweet and half unsweet, or else risk diabetes like 95% of the general southern population.

Found the page, for chuckles. White People Food. I know its stupid but anybody who hates Cockeye is a friend of mine. https://www.facebook.com/wpmwpf

Real question is Southern girls v Midwestern. I can make a case for both. Wife is Cinci gal, but so close to KY she has some of both. Had an 100% Italian American girlfriend for 3 years from Jersey. She was 🔥🔥🔥🔥, but jesus she could get mad. I had to say goodbye and she put me in choke hold trying to walk out the door lol. Very sexy, but she would've murdered me in my sleep if I had stayed. Southern girls in warm weather is elite, but there is a cookie cutter aspect to them.
Definitely should not have married till you had a chance to date in Scottsbluff. They know how to grow em ugly AND mean out here.

collard greens

or else risk diabetes

Southern secret. Can't do one without the other or you lose your feet. Seriously, it's wild that collards aren't loved by y'all, and I'm wondering if it has to do with where and who made it? My Ohio wife said she hated them, but now it is a favorite of hers. Undercooked, under spiced, preparation is everything as they don't like to be cooked, but there is a magic point where they suddenly draw in flavors and become edible. Canned and frozen stuff they sell at stores is trash btw. Some places serve said trash.
