Is it ok to laugh at Wisconsin right now?

I would have bet that we would be talking about #2ndChoice being fired today rather than Franklin. Wisky probably waits until the talk of Franklin getting fired dies down a little.

I'm sure PSU can figure out how to buy out Franklin, but can Wisconsin figure out how to buy out #2ndChoice?

Wisconsin is a real head scratcher. As in, we all know Fluke is toast, but who are they legitimately going to get that will move needle? Or more importantly, win? There’s gonna be about 8-12 major D1 programs looking for coaches and Wisconsin does not have an overly robust NIL infrastructure or a great recruiting footprint. Also doesn’t have a reputation for paying coaches.

Who is gonna take that job that’s worth a shit? They’re gonna have to settle/gamble on a young up and comer coordinator type. And if they don’t open the NIL check book up that young coordinator will fail hard.

Very possible, but the reality of 2025 and beyond, if you don’t give that coach enough NIL money they don’t have a shot. Now if you have the ability to buy a proven winner away from another P4 program that comes with recruiting cache and a reputation that’s one thing, but I don’t think Wisconsin will be able to do that in this climate.

I think a number of schools will try or think they can copy or do what Indiana did with Curt Cignetti. I don’t think it will work for all or most of them. I think Indiana pulled the needle out of haystack. Not sure that can be replicated.
